Jhpiego is seeking a highly motivated Program Officer based in New Delhi for its USAID-funded RISE project to coordinate efforts in tackling the growing challenge of Zoonoses. The Program Officer will play a pivotal role in coordinating zoonoses-related activities with the National Center for Disease Control. The position will work closely with the India country office and state office teams to develop tech-enabled learning solutions and approaches under the USAID-RISE project. The position will report to the Lead – NCDC Coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and Planning:Work in tandem with the Zoonotic Division to assist in coordinating and planning various aspects of the project, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Response Framework Development:Collaborate on the development of coordinated response frameworks, helping to define roles, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms among different stakeholders as per NCDC’s priorities and project objectives.
  • Training Program Assistance and Workshop Facilitation:Develop various knowledge resources for the project implementation in alignment with NCDC’s priorities and project objectives.
  • Participate in the organization of joint training programs aimed at fostering cross-sectoral understanding and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Participate in the organization of joint training programs for various cadres of healthcare workers as per the programmatic needs.
  • Support the facilitation of multi-sectoral coordination workshops in assigned states, promoting effective collaboration in zoonotic disease management.
  • Community Engagement Support:Support the Center for One Health and draft the operational guidelines and knowledge resources for effective community engagement as per the priorities.
  • Assist in developing an implementation plan and reach-out activities as per the approved community engagement strategy and initiatives related to zoonotic disease threats.
  • Data Integration Collaboration:Collaborate under the guidance of the Zoonotic Division to enhance the zoonotic disease reporting system by incorporating comprehensive human, animal, wildlife, and climate data integration.
  • Data Mapping and Simulation:Aid in mapping key data points and parameters necessary for creating an integrated disease surveillance dashboard.
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive simulation mechanism that supports synthetic population generation for scenario planning.
  • Collaborative Mechanisms Activation:Support the establishment of formal collaboration mechanisms such as intersectoral committees or task forces at the state level.
  • Documentation and Reporting:Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of project activities and outcomes, contributing to regular progress reporting.
  • MiscellaneousAny tasks assigned by the supervisor or the head of the department of the Center for One Health

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in medicine is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s in public health (MPH) and/or MD in Community Medicine.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A basic understanding of zoonotic diseases and public health principles is beneficial.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with the Indian public health system, newer initiatives in the health sector, and relevant government policies/ strategies particularly the National Health Mission, and Ayushman Bharat.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for workshops and coordination activities.
