India Health Action Trust (IHAT) is a charitable trust established in 2003 with a mission to reduce health and social inequities, impacting the lives of vulnerable and marginalized people. IHAT works towards achieving this vision by developing comprehensive and sustainable programs to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has partnered closely with the Government of India and various state governments, including Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Bihar, to achieve public health goals.

* Prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis
* Improving Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health
* Enhancing Nutrition for mothers and children
* Strengthening health systems
IHAT utilizes program science to optimize and scale public health programs while collaborating with governments and communities.
**Experience Required:**
* Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience at the national and/or international level in working on gender mainstreaming and gender coordination.
* Experience working with international organizations/ bilateral agencies such as WHO, UNICEF, USAID etc. in health programs is an added advantage.
**Job Summary:**
The Programme Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the Public Health Specialist and other team members in coordinating new program development, program management, monitoring, and strategic communication with internal and external stakeholders, including donors and the government. This role will involve:
* Assisting in developing routine project updates, including narrative reports and power point presentations, through critical data and information analysis.
* Developing and managing key project timelines, ensuring necessary follow-ups for timely project deliverables.
This position requires a strong understanding of various health domains, including maternal new-born and child health, family planning, nutrition, health systems strengthening, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis, with a focus on program science and gender equality. The Associate will contribute to IHAT’s gender integration efforts in new programs and ongoing project initiatives.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* **New Programs Development:**
* Support in consolidating data and literature review for new project concept notes and proposals.
* Work with the Public Health Specialist and concerned teams in the proposal development process (narrative and financial).
* Assist the Public Health Specialist in maintaining an up-to-date archive of all literature, documents, and reports.
* **Program Management:**
* Review the progress of the integrated work plan, ensuring all partners are delivering on commitments and key milestones. Identify any critical activities that are off track, strategize course correction, and provide any required support.
* Provide systematic and regular updates on achievements and progress made. Maintain regular communication with all consortium partners and ensure the team is up-to-date on key achievements/progress. This will also involve supporting the preparation for key strategic meetings, including document development, planning, and coordination.
* Share regular updates on progress against action items decided in all internal and external meetings.
* Develop and improve necessary analysis and presentation frameworks for all internal and external meetings and maintain minutes of meetings.
* Maintain project schedules, manage and analyze progress using excel and other similar tools.
* Liaise with key external stakeholders, including funders and internal UP-TSU teams, to support effective collaboration in the implementation and knowledge management of ongoing project activities.
* Support with gender integration activities within the organization.
* **Strategic Planning:**
* Examine challenges and progress made on key pivots discussed in the Phase 3 proposal (equity, gender, transition and sustainability, incl. institutional capacity building).
* Conduct field visits to assess program implementation at the community level to ensure accurate dissemination of instructions and guidelines specified at the state level and identify gaps in the current implementation scheme, as required.
* **Documentation and Coordination:**
* Support the dissemination of knowledge regarding the work of the UP TSU with key stakeholders (government, funders, ecosystem partners) through various formats, including in-person meetings, knowledge products, etc.
* Assist in planning and preparing for key funder meetings/visits.
* Prepare concept notes, proposals, and reports for consideration as required.
* Prepare high-quality presentations for internal and external demonstrations as directed. Maintain a comprehensive repository of all relevant documents, reports, presentations, and photographs.
* **Resource Mobilisation:**
* Support in identifying new funding opportunities.
* Assist in designing programs and writing proposals.
* Coordinate and liaise with potential donors.
* Support in maintaining a database of new and existing grants.
**Education:**
* Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, public health, or a related field is required.
**Key Competencies:**
* Extensive experience in gender mainstreaming and gender coordination, working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Strong understanding of gender integration mechanisms in program formulation, implementation, and monitoring.
* Proficiency in implementing gender analysis.
* Deep knowledge of Results Based Management and the application of the Program Science Approach, including monitoring, evaluation, and research.
* Ability to support internal and partners’ capacity development in the area of gender integration across various sectors of intervention.
* Ability to gather and interpret data, reach logical conclusions, and present findings and recommendations.
* Experience in working with women organizations/NGOs.
* Strong knowledge of the local project site context.
* Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
* Ability to identify and analyze trends, opportunities, and threats to fundraising.
**Travel Requirements:**
* 30% travel is expected.
