Purpose
The CEEW Centre for Energy Finance (CEEW-CEF) seeks to hire a programme associate to join the team and drive its endeavours to unlock finance flows to sustainability. The role broadly involves devising solutions grounded in the cross-cutting areas of climate finance, sustainable finance, carbon markets, or carbon pricing that link domestic investment opportunities with both domestic and international sources of capital. Candidates with a firm grasp of issues associated with voluntary and compliance carbon markets and international climate change negotiations (both carbon markets and climate finance), sustainability disclosures and green taxonomies will be viewed favourably. Proficiency in corporate finance and financial statement analysis would be an added advantage. This role is suitable for candidates from a variety of professional backgrounds including those with experience in consulting, policy research institutions, multilateral financial institutions, government agencies and corporates.

Job Duties and Accountabilities:
Research
- Track policy, regulatory, and market developments associated with carbon markets, carbon pricing and sustainable finance.
- Undertake rigorous qualitative and quantitative analysis of market challenges using a variety of mathematical tools and interdisciplinary methodologies.
- Develop fit-for-purpose policy, regulatory, or market-related solutions to address challenges.
- Write reports/issue briefs/blogs/op-eds for the dissemination of analyses and outreach.
- Collaborate within and across teams and institutions to further CEEW-CEF’s endeavours.
Programme Assistance
- Assist with programme implementation, including help with preparing presentations and policy recommendations.
- Assist with planning and executing events such as meetings, consultation workshops, round table discussions, etc.
- Assist with building relationships with a wider community of industry and government stakeholders in the sustainability domain.
- Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of CEEW-CEF’s work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community.
- Respond to research requests from senior researchers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information.
- Participate constructively in team meetings.
Shortlisting Criteria
Education
The ideal candidate should be a master’s degree holder with a background in sustainability and finance. Bachelor’s or master’s level degrees in sustainability, energy, engineering in combination with degrees in business, economics, finance etc. are desired. However, candidates not fulfilling this requirement may also be considered as long as they demonstrate strong proficiency in the areas highlighted previously in the terms of reference.
Professional Skills
- Two to five years’ experience in consulting, multilateral/bilateral financial institutions, government agencies or think tanks.
- Prior experience related to carbon markets, carbon pricing and sustainable finance is desired.
- Prior experience in or an understanding of issues associated with international climate change negotiations (specifically climate finance and carbon markets) would be considered favourably.
- Experience in large programmes with significant stakeholder management would be an added advantage
Main Skills
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage with senior officials and business leaders.
- Strong oral communication skills with an interest in public speaking.
- Good writing skills with the ability to write opinion pieces, policy briefs, and reports.
