Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Programme Lead / Programme Associate to expand its work in the area of Carbon Markets. Our programme of work on policy analysis is driven with the broader objective to support India’s energy and climate policy through evidence based unbiased research and cutting-edge analytical approaches. The candidate should have a strong interest in various aspects of carbon markets related issues.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

Research

  • To co-lead and develop CEEW’s research programme on carbon markets
  • To develop a team with expertise on various issues related to carbon markets
  • To engage with funders, government representatives, private sector representatives, and other relevant carbon market stakeholders
  • To study existing literature and build analytical understanding about emission trading schemes, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, other offset markets (voluntary and compliance), and other elements related to carbon markets
  • To develop, manage and execute research projects to strengthen and expand the existing programme of research with particular focus on carbon markets
  • To write research reports/papers and publish in high quality peer reviewed national and international journals
  • To present research to key constituencies, advisory bodies, conferences & research institutes
  • To develop research networks locally, nationally and internationally in support of research programmes
  • To keep a tab on the policy developments in India and across key countries of the world on energy and climate policy
  • To generate knowledge content – blogs, policy briefs in regular intervals
  • To travel to project sites, when required, to conduct interviews or collect data for different research projects

Selection Criteria

Education

  • Master’s degree with specialisation in economics, public policy or related field
  • Should have a strong inclination towards research, including an understanding of experimental and analytical research
  • Familiarity with quantitative skills and high degree of comfort with quantitative and qualitative analysis

  • Basic understanding about the carbon markets is essential
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytic skills
  • Strong networking and business development skills

Additional desirable skills

  • Ability to conduct techno-economic analysis, cost & benefit analysis, sound knowledge of basic economic principles
