Our grants support a range of initiatives – for communities of marginalised people, as well as government service delivery systems. Our areas of support include gender justice, children in need of care and protection, persons with disability, urban poor communities, land, water, and forests, nutrition, governance, constitutional values, focused vulnerable geographies, and civil society organisations.

Our work with community-based organisations places emphasis on enabling:

Marginalised communities to have access to secure citizenship rights and entitlements.
Reducing discrimination, violence, and stigma by changing perceptions and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scoping and programmatic due diligence of organisations.
  • Review all completed proposals to ensure that required information has been provided. Ensure that the story of the organisations comes through clearly.
  • Dialogue with the partner organisation to flesh out effects of their engagement
  • Help the organisations prepare budgets and support the finance team with budget review and financial due diligence where required.
  • Lead the grant making process for the assigned organisations and ensure compliance with the Foundation’s guidelines and requirements.
  • Manage the grant management process system through the entire lifecycle of a grant.
  • Initiate relationships with resource organisations and civil society organisations to further the organisations’ and the Foundation’s understanding of the area

What we are looking for:

Candidates who have

  • At least 6 years of experience in working with community-based organisations with programme implementation and management experience.
  • A clear understanding of government interventions, initiatives and welfare schemes would be desirable.
  • Experience in grant making/management and program budgeting are preferred. Fund raising experience is also welcome.
  • Made significant and long-lasting contributions in their area of specialization.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for work.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant area would be preferred.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of self-motivation, initiative, and creativity.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and solve problems independently or collaboratively as needed.
