Website CSRBOX
CSRBOX is a social impact strategy practice and implementation organisation. We work with companies and philanthropic organisations for better CSR programme design, pre-project to post-project handholding and impact assessment, and embedding technology solutions for responding to problems at a scale. We are the largest knowledge platform with www.csrbox.org having mapped over 30,000 CSR projects in the past 7 years. We work at the pan-India level with our Teams at Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore. We are also an executive committee member of Bharat Digital Platform under the aegis of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India. We spearhead two collaborative platforms; India Livelihoods Collective and IMPAct4Nutrition.
BharatCares (CSRBOX Foundation) is the social impact arm of CSRBOX. We believe in innovations, technology, and scale for providing solutions to the problems that we as a society have been grappling with. BharatCares works as a social solution bridge for communities, innovators and funders to get the best implementation model in place. We strive to provide better education, employability skills, and entrepreneurial ecosystem support to underprivileged communities.
We have been implementing CSR projects for a few large CSR companies including IBM, Diageo, Cadila Pharma, Arvind Ltd, Airbus, PNB Housing Finance, and others. We have our programs in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
About the Position
Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrological assessments: Perform comprehensive hydrological assessments of lakes, including water balance calculations, rainfall-runoff modelling, and water flow analysis to understand the existing water dynamics and potential issues affecting lake ecosystems.
- Collect and analyse data: Design and execute field surveys to collect hydrological data such as water levels, flow rates, sedimentation rates, and water quality parameters. Analyse the collected data using statistical and hydrological modelling techniques.
- Assess water quality: Evaluate water quality parameters, including nutrient levels, dissolved oxygen, pH, and pollutant concentrations. Identify potential sources of pollution and assess the impact on lake ecosystems.
- Develop lake rejuvenation strategies: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Civil engineers, Environmentalists, GIS Analysts) to develop and implement lake rejuvenation strategies. Use hydrological models and simulations to assess the effectiveness of various management practices, such as sediment dredging, nutrient reduction measures, and water level regulation.
- Environmental impact assessment: Conduct environmental impact assessments of proposed lake rejuvenation projects. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize adverse effects on the ecosystem, surrounding communities, and water resources.
- Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with government agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to gather inputs, address concerns, and ensure their participation in lake rejuvenation programs.
- Provide expert advice and communicate scientific findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Monitoring and reporting: Implement monitoring programs to assess the effectiveness of implemented strategies. Regularly monitor water quality, hydrological parameters, and ecosystem indicators to track changes over time. Prepare comprehensive reports, scientific papers, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders, scientific communities, and policymakers.
- Stay updated with industry trends: Keep abreast of advancements in hydrological modelling techniques, water resource management practices, and relevant regulations. Continuously improve professional knowledge and skills through attending conferences, workshops, and training programs.
Mandatory Qualification and Experience:
- A master’s degree in hydrology, water resources management, or a related field.
- Proven experience of minimum 2 years in hydrological modelling, data analysis, and water quality assessments.
- Strong knowledge of hydrological concepts, techniques, and modelling tools (e.g., The Hydrologic Modelling System (HEC-HMS) HEC-HMS, MODFLOW).
- Familiarity with GIS software (QGIS/ARCGIS) and its application to hydrological analysis.
- Understanding of lake ecosystems, water pollution sources, and restoration techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and report writing is desirable.
Desirable
- Hydrologists may work in the field, conducting water quality tests and collecting data
- Some travel may be required, especially if the lake rejuvenation project is in a remote location
- Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent counseling, listening, decision-making and communication skills
- Experience working in rural or remote zones.
- Willingness to travel for project work
- Compassionate nature with the ability to make patients feel at ease
