**Job Description: Project Manager – India Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator (IDCA)**
**Organization:** J-PAL South Asia, a regional office of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). J-PAL is a global research center dedicated to reducing poverty by ensuring policy decisions are informed by scientific evidence. With a network of over 750 affiliated researchers worldwide, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to address critical poverty-related issues. J-PAL South Asia, based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in India, partners with Indian state and central government ministries to generate research and promote evidence-based policymaking.

**About the Project:** The India Climate and Health Data Capacity Accelerator (IDCA) is a collaborative initiative between J-PAL South Asia and data.org. Its goal is to establish a sustainable model for enhancing data capacity within India’s social sector. This involves equipping social impact professionals and organizations with the tools necessary to leverage data for addressing critical climate and health challenges. The project places trained data professionals on carefully selected projects across various social impact organizations.
**Position Overview:**
The Project Manager will work alongside the initiative’s Director to strategize and execute the IDCA Fellowship. Key responsibilities include fellow selection and onboarding, partnership development, stakeholder management for project curation with host organizations, fellow operational management, knowledge management, and timely project reporting. The role involves close collaboration with J-PAL South Asia’s senior management and a wide range of stakeholders, including J-PAL partners, NGOs, researchers, donors, and international organizations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Oversee fellow selection, adhering to established criteria. This includes screening applications, coordinating assessments, conducting interviews, and contributing to final selection decisions.
* Identify and select Social Impact Organizations (SIOs) to host IDCA fellows on projects aligned with the initiative’s goals. This involves applying eligibility criteria based on factors such as data maturity, demand, size, and sectoral focus.
* Facilitate the matching of fellows with suitable projects, ensuring a strong fit between fellow skills and project requirements.
* Regularly monitor program progress against established indicators, tracking inputs, outputs, and outcomes. Disseminate findings to relevant stakeholders.
* Cultivate partnerships with key stakeholders (government agencies, NGOs, foundations, and multilateral organizations) working at the intersection of climate and health. This includes identifying potential partners, conducting outreach, collaborating with J-PAL sector leads, and finalizing partnerships through formal agreements. Prepare materials for IDCA outreach, including concept notes, briefs, and presentations.
* Manage internal and external communications to share initiative progress. This includes regular updates with J-PAL leads, contributing to publications (blogs, articles), maintaining the program webpage, and preparing donor and partner reports. Assist with budget and financial management.
* Manage fellow operations to ensure a positive fellowship experience. This includes facilitating communication, addressing inquiries, scheduling check-in calls, providing support, and preparing program reports.
* Organize and disseminate knowledge resources generated by various stakeholders. This involves collecting assessments, managing fellow project deliverables, and maintaining communication channels.
**Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., management, social science, data science, research).
* Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience (social sector, consulting, government projects).
* Prior experience managing a social sector fellowship is highly preferred.
* Experience in Data for Social Impact, Climate Change, and Health sectors is a plus.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
* Passion for data and developing data talent for the social impact sector.
