About SELCO Foundation and Global SG7 Hubs:

SELCO Foundation, an NGO established in 2010 is working on building a holistic ecosystem for sustainable energy access to inspire and implement socially, financially and environmentally inclusive solutions for sustainable development and poverty alleviation. The organisation works to create and deploy innovative solutions and demonstrate the role of renewable energy across verticals of well-being, health, education, livelihoods, and built environment. In this regard, SELCO engages in technical, financial, and social innovation, enterprise development, skill building, policy and financial inclusion.

Under the SELCO Foundation, Global SDG7 Hubs program is a learning platform to position the UN’s SDG 7 as a critical catalyst for a sustainable and equitable future. The idea is to facilitate productive transfers of local knowledge, local expertise, and networks to catalyze the implementation of pro-poor sustainable energy solutions. The platform is proposed to become a cross-learning platform for sustainable energy and development practitioners across Global South. Currently, SELCO is working with local partners in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, etc. to build them as regional hubs within Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key responsibilities:

  • To identify, develop, implement and monitor technical aspects of the various projects spanning different countries in the global south.
  • Collaborating with a cross-functional team to conceptualise, design, and deliver products and features for last-mile technological solutions.
  • Research and landscaping: Technical market research for relevant technologies for various geographies, ecosystem stakeholder mapping of various regions, and support in developing, editing, and review of ongoing research documents.
  • To coordinate and conduct site surveys, energy audits and system design, support in procurement for projects.
  • Research on the technology ecosystem of products including but not limited to user research, market research, and financial analysis.
  • Execution, implementation, servicing & troubleshooting of last-mile technological solutions.
  • Coordinate with beneficiaries & vendors for customising the product to achieve more energy efficiency.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation framework: Support in developing the M&E framework and template for various technology solutions implemented on the ground and for the technology incubation program.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate or post graduation with Electrical/Solar technical background preferred
  • 4 – 5 years of relevant experience in renewable energy/ solar energy space
  • A keen interest in design & exploring the energy–livelihood and health nexus
  • Understanding of global development sector works is preferred
  • Experience in setting up processes for procurement for an organisation and actually working with vendors is an added advantage
  • Highly motivated, responsible, self-directed, resourceful, and flexible.
  • Willingness to travel
