Job Description

  • Coordinate the Wildlife Sniffer Dog Training Programme of TRAFFIC & WWF-India:
  • Together with the TRAFFIC India team, make a plan for the 2023-2024 sniffer dog training programme.
  • Liaison with the forest department, training centres, dog kennels and others for organising training of wildlife sniffer dog squads.
  • Monitor wildlife sniffer dog squads already deployed in the field through liaison with the forest department and the dog handlers.
  • Provide regular updates about the achievement of the wildlife sniffer dogs through articles, short films, reports, web releases etc.
  • Organise stakeholders meeting to develop a strategy for a wildlife sniffer dog programme in India.
  • Work for fundraising for the sniffer dog programme. 

2.    Other Responsibilities:

  • Help research trends in illegal wildlife trade based on data available online and in open sources and write articles, factsheets and reports.
  • Provide communication and outreach support for TRAFFIC programmes, including creating awareness of illegal wildlife trade issues by assisting in making short films and designing campaigns and publications.
  • Assist in any other programmes as instructed by the Head, TRAFFIC, India Office. 

Requirements

Desired qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • At least a Graduate in Wildlife Conservation or Management. Masters or Specialization in the similar field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in related fields will be given preference.
  • Proven knowledge and skills in wildlife conservation and protection initiatives in India.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills, including writing and speaking skills
  • Proficiency in undertaking video editing work or in graphic designing and software like Coral Draw, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and others will be given preference.
