Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance to government counterparts for integration of mental health services in primary healthcare settings in the selected AAMs of the district.
  • Facilitate systems preparedness including availability of necessary drugs and supplies for integration of mental health in primary healthcare facilities in the assigned geography.
  • Facilitate the capacity building of the district, facility level functionaries and frontline workers on integration of mental health interventions in primary care.
  • Liaises and manages stakeholders at the district level and state level project activities.
  • Provide onsite handholding and mentoring support to CHOs / MOs for roll out of mental health services at selected AAMs.
  • Streamline forward and backward referral linkages for ensuring continuum of care for mental health at selected AAMs.
  • Coordinate and participate in district/block level planning and review meetings to ensure proper implementation of primary mental healthcare interventions and related project activities.
  • Timely collection, compilation and analysis of program implementation data from all the assigned AAMs in the districts and share feedback with the concerned district and state government counterparts for corrective action.
  • Support in documentation of learnings, results, successes, challenges and dissemination
  • Travel up to 50% of the time to primary care facilities including Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) in the assigned district for capacity building, supportive supervision, implementing, and monitoring the key project activities.
  • Undertake other tasks which may be assigned from time to time by the national or state leadership
     

Required Experience and qualifications

  • Master’s degree in clinical psychology /psychiatry /public health /health administration and related fields with 3-5 years’ experience and demonstrated skills in development and implementation of mental health programs in primary care settings is essential.
  • Prior experience of working in similar roles in primary healthcare settings is highly desirable.
  • Technical knowledge and field experience of planning and implementation of public health programs will be an added advantage
  • Experience with INGOs in the health sector and/ or Ministries of Health or state government is preferable.
  • Familiarity with Indian public health system, flagship initiatives in health sector and relevant government policies/ strategies particularly NHM, Ayushman Arogya Mandir, etc.

  • Self-starter and committed to performing their duties with a high degree of autonomy and independence in line with project goals and objectives.
    Strong written and oral communication skills in English, Hindi and regional language of the designated geography
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver public health programs on ground.
  • Ability and proficiency to write technical documents, program reports, training reports, etc.
  • Experience of conducting trainings and developing training materials.
  • Direct experience of independently liaising with government health functionaries, district level administrators and other development partners.
  • Strong coordination and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to mutli-task and perform under tight timelines.
  • Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with commonly used packages like MS Word,
  • Excel, Power Point, Outlook & Web surfing to search relevant data & documents
    Ability to travel at least 50% of time.
