What we’re looking for

First things first, this is not a regular cubicle-based job. It’s a unique opportunity. You must enjoy finding out about things. Research has to be your passion. You could be fresher or <5 years’ experience. You must have many unique and interesting personal and professional achievement stories either from your school/ college times or life at companies earlier. In this secondary research-based role you will primarily be discovering information about occupations, industries, careers, educational opportunities, universities & colleges, and academic programs in India and abroad using the web and other digital/print resources. You will scan multiple industry/R&D landscapes for writing detailed schema-based reports on these. For this, you will use various databases, company websites, market research reports, archives, newsletters, press releases, scientific/academic publications, journal logs, ranking frameworks, international college info banks etc. You will deal with extensive data triangulation from national/international job boards to understand current functional job roles and contemporary industry demands. You will use official CEIAG repositories like ONET, MyFuture from Australia, Skills Development Scotland, CareersPortal of Ireland among others including India’s NSQF/NCS directories etc. You will execute an intricate collection of data including education gradients in each sub-sector, forecasts (charting no. of jobs, now & future), investment growth, mapping linkages b/w industrial sectors with careers.

Responsibilities

You will conduct all-embracing secondary research
You will scan multiple industry/R&D landscapes including but not limited to IT & Computer Sc, science & technology, electronics, medicine, architecture, design, alternative / allied medicine, space technology, finance, education & training, energy & carbon etc. This list is not exhaustive, it will be diverse.
You will use job boards like CareerOneStop (USA Dept. LETA), SEEK, JobStreet, JobsDB, BrighterMonday, JobberMan, Job Bank, Academics.com, LinkedIn, Indeed, Jora, EURES etc.
You will conduct extensive data triangulation from CEAIG portals as in JD para above
You will find and present information about both traditional & unique ways of how an education cascade can finally translate into a job in an industry sector or academe
You will develop and curate information on occupations, industries, and careers, for usage as advisory material by students, teachers, counsellors, parents as well as any random jaywalker.
You will write whitepapers/articles/blogs/internal communication materials around diverse topics.
You will be editing and QCing materials as received from outsourced developers and agencies.
You will broadly contribute to building unique information and knowledge architecture to develop various web-based and other products, specifically an all-encompassing education information ecosystem (EIE).

Skills

Education: You must have a Master’s degree in any STEM discipline. MBA/MCA graduates, must have a Bachelor’s in STEM.
You must have an insatiable appetite for well-rounded knowledge about the world – from Museology to Eschatology to Drugs Research to Blockchain to “The Adjacent Possible” theory from Evolution Studies.
You must have deep curiosity in ‘knowing’ from just about anywhere including online releases, regular websites, newspapers, web journals, paid media stuff, image galleries (like imgur) and other print sources like books or even manga.
You are required to have impeccable knowledge of and interest in English and you are at least bilingual (MIL or non-MIL), with equal fluidity in 1 other language as in English. This includes reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities.
You must possess awareness about research-related databases like Google Scholar, academic journals, USPTO, inPASS etc.
You must be adept with Microsoft Office Suite i.e., mid-level Excel (incl. vlookup, hlookup, concat, match functions), Word and PowerPoint. Exposure to Microsoft 365 updates will be preferred.
You must exhibit excellent skills in desktop research, have the patience to travel beyond the 5th page of Google SERPs and delve into deep dives to fish out the right data.
You may have experience in primary research (preferred, not essential)
You may have experience in national/international conferences, symposiums, congress etc. (preferred, not essential)
You may possess awareness about industry databases like ILOSTAT, WB Databank, IBEF-India, or their likes (preferred, not essential)
