Job Opportunity for Research Analyst – Energy, Natural Resources and Sustainability at CSEP in New Delhi

The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) is seeking to hire a Research Analyst to work on the ongoing and proposed research on how India must draft multiple strategies to meet its COP26 commitments through the just transition framework.

The following are the key research questions:

  • Fiscal implications of green transition
  • Cost implications of a low carbon economy
  • Potential trajectories of India’s energy demand and supply
  • Preparing India to face EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism
  • Modelling energy use and climate change – econometric tools and general equilibrium techniques
  • How India should secure its critical mineral supply chains for the country’s green technologies transition

About CSEP

The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) conducts in-depth, policy relevant research and provides evidence-based recommendations to the challenges facing India and the world. It draws on the expertise of its researchers, extensive interactions with policy makers as well as convening power to enhance the impact of research.

CSEP is based in New Delhi and registered as a company limited by shares and not for profit, under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 1956. It was earlier known as Brookings Institution India Center.

Responsibilities include:

The candidate must have either: a) a postgraduate degree in economics or engineering, preferably with a specialisation in climate change or environmental economics/engineering, or b) an undergraduate degree with two years of work experience in a relevant field. In addition, they should be able to work with MS Office, MS Excel, and some econometric software. The selected candidate should be able to work with and manage datasets and primary data; provide support for networking with stakeholders in government, civil society and academia; and play a key role in managing progress on all kinds of initiatives and activities by working in close coordination with senior CSEP researchers.

The candidate should be able to complete reasonably defined analyses end to end, with minimal assistance. In addition, s/he should begin contributing to the entire study’s narrative and be able to push to solve the research issues under the guidance of the immediate senior. The selected candidate is expected to help with publications, hosting webinars and other live events at CSEP.
