SELCO Foundation is an open source, not for profit organisation that engages in field-based R&D and ecosystem building for deployment of clean energy solutions that alleviate poverty in tribal, rural and urban poor areas. The organisation works in collaboration with practitioners in the social sector, energy entrepreneurs, NGOs from various developmental sectors and educational institutions to link the benefits of sustainable energy to poverty eradication. The organisation works across verticals such as energy access, health, livelihoods, enterprise development with practitioners in the social sector, energy entrepreneurs and partners from various developmental sectors.

Job Description:

Systems thinking is a holistic approach to analysis that focuses on the way that a system’s constituent parts interrelate and how systems work over time and within the context of larger systems.
The Think Tank at SELCO Foundation conducts deep-dive studies, capacity building workshops and narrative building exercises in order to improve processes and approaches with the organisation.
Being an implementation based organisation, the aim is to be futuristic in the vision we co- create with the end users for livelihood, health, climate action; as well as constantly improve the sustainability, efficiency and effectiveness of the programs designed by the organisation.
The candidate would specifically engage with systems thinking at SELCO Foundation, and use the approach to build improved evidence on criticality of the approach, as well as inform the sector on key gaps in program design.
The candidate will be working with the implementation teams, and chosen partners to specifically strengthen the frameworks, documents and communication on ecosystem approach for sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with implementation teams to develop systems maps in order to support improved design and monitoring of programs
  • Conduct landscape studies that bring out gaps in the ecosystem, and its impact on sustainability of impact created in the ground
  • Develop frameworks and tools that allow for improved program design using systems thinking lens
  • Anchor and deliver on new and innovative ways to communicate systems thinking and ecosystem building activities across the sector
  • Conduct regular team meetings internally to identify opportunities for improved systems thinking application
  • Design and plan for regular blogs, newsletters and updates to inform the sector on the Organization’s key learnings
  • Keep abreast with trends and narratives emerging in the sector and plan for organization activities accordingly

Who should apply:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the social impact sector
  • Demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the fundamental concepts and application of systems thinking
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to process complex information and break it down for easy consumption
  • Ability to grasp audience sensibility and calibrate communications to resonate with different target audiences
  • Open to thinking creatively on communication of critical information to further application of systems thinking
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Willingness to travel
