**Job Title:** Research and Documentation Fellow
**Organization:** Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India) (AKRSP(I)), a program of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKRSP(I) works across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra, focusing on agriculture and climate resilience, work and enterprise development, and rural governance.
**Job Location:** Hybrid (preferably Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India)
**Experience Required:** Minimum 1-3 years of experience in research and documentation, preferably within the sustainability or agriculture sectors. Experience with carbon markets and Payment for Ecosystem Services is highly desirable.
**Education:** Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Agriculture, Development Studies, or a related field.
**Job Summary:**
The Research and Documentation Fellow will be a key contributor to the Centre’s mission of creating innovative, grower-centric eco-value mechanisms. This role involves conducting in-depth research, managing data, and producing high-quality documentation to inform policy recommendations, program development, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a passion for sustainability, and a commitment to empowering growers through actionable insights.
**Responsibilities:**
* **Research and Analysis:** Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on the Centre’s carbon projects, carbon market trends, climate financing, and policy frameworks. Collect and analyze data from primary and secondary sources. Develop insights and recommendations to enhance program and advocacy efforts.
* **Documentation and Reporting:** Prepare research reports, policy briefs, case studies, and project documentation. Maintain accurate research records. Draft content for internal and external communications, including annual reports and knowledge-sharing materials.
* **Knowledge Management:** Create and maintain a repository of resources and publications. Synthesize complex information for diverse audiences (growers, policymakers, researchers).
* **Stakeholder Engagement Support:** Assist in preparing presentations and materials for stakeholder meetings and workshops. Collaborate with the communications team for effective dissemination of research outputs.
* **Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):** Support M&E activities by gathering data, tracking progress, and preparing evaluation reports. Document lessons learned and best practices.
* **Event and Workshop Support:** Assist in organizing research-related events and documenting proceedings.
**Skills and Competencies:**
* Strong understanding of environmental sustainability, carbon markets, and payment for ecosystem services.
* Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, data analysis, and reporting tools.
* Excellent research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Strong writing and editing abilities.
* Proficiency in MS Office, data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, or R), and digital collaboration platforms.
* Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and accessible formats.
* Self-motivated, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks within deadlines. Knowledge in agriculture and/or forestry is a plus.
