Job Opportunity for Research Associate/Analyst/Assistant (power and energy) at CSEP in New Delhi

CSEP is looking to hire a Research Associate/Analyst/Assistant to work in ongoing and proposed research in the Energy, Natural Resources and Sustainability group across various studies and topics, some of which include:

  • Future Electricity systems (grid, markets, etc.)
  • The balance of supply options (RE, coal, other) with Demand
  • New Tech (EVs, Smart Grids, Storage, Hydrogen, etc.)
  • Social contract of energy (equity, sustainability, etc.)
  • Regulation and Pricing
  • Externalities, emissions, etc.
  • Designation offered to the candidate will be determined based on experience.

About CSEP :

The Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) conducts independent, in-depth, and policy-relevant research, and provides evidence-based recommendations to the challenges facing India and the world. It draws on the expertise of its researchers, extensive interactions with policy makers as well as convening power to enhance the impact of research. Our researchers work across the domains of Economic Growth and Development including Health, Urbanization; Energy, Natural Resources, Climate change and Sustainability; and Foreign Policy and Security. All our research and policy recommendations are freely available to the public.

CSEP is based in New Delhi and registered as a company limited by shares and not for profit, under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 1956 (now Section 8 of Companies Act, 2013).

Key functions:

Responsibilities span three major threads of effort:

  • Specific research and analysis for selected studies
  • General and supporting analysis for multiple threads of research (including working with senior researchers), also covers data gathering, cleaning and analysis where required.
  • Support effort for vertical efforts spanning events, coordination with stakeholders, publications, etc.

The primary function of the candidate will be cutting-edge and rigorous policy-oriented research on issues of energy and electricity in India. Some of the work will be unstructured and need to be developed over time, while other components will fit into already existing research programs.

The candidate will also support scholars and the organisation in administrative and research capacity in organising workshops, conferences and other engagements.

Key requisites:

A base list of desired skills and background includes:

  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or allied domains with domain relevant work experience. For exceptional candidates, the minimum work experience requirement can be relaxed.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office and other relevant tools (which will vary per domain).
    Good writing skills are essential.
  • Ability to coordinate, work across domains and deliver quality products on-time.
