Established in 2003 at MIT, J-PAL has grown into a network of researchers conducting randomized evaluations to address critical questions related to poverty. J-PAL South Asia, based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in India, focuses on analyzing and disseminating research findings while building partnerships with policymakers to scale effective programs.

### **Position Overview:**

J-PAL South Asia seeks a qualified Research Associate (RA) to support the evaluation of the Satat Jeevikoparjan Yojana (SJY), a large-scale government program in Bihar targeting 1 lakh ultra-poor households using the Graduation Approach. The RA will work closely with Principal Investigators and contribute to field management, data collection, analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

### **Key Responsibilities:**

– Represent the research team on the ground and manage field operations.

– Conduct fieldwork, including survey design, qualitative research, and process evaluations.

– Train and supervise field teams, ensuring compliance with IRB protocols.

– Monitor project implementation, maintain relationships with partner organizations, and coordinate with internal teams.

– Oversee data collection, entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis.

– Prepare reports, documents, and presentations for dissemination.

### **Qualifications:**

– Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in economics, public policy, or related fields.

– 1+ year of relevant experience, preferably in rural development or field research.

– Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

– Proficiency in Stata; familiarity with SurveyCTO and R is a plus.

– Experience with RCTs and qualitative studies is advantageous.

– Fluency in Hindi and English.
