### **About the Company**  

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a global research center dedicated to reducing poverty by ensuring that policy decisions are informed by scientific evidence. J-PAL operates through a network of over 1,000 researchers at universities worldwide, conducting randomized impact evaluations to address critical questions in the fight against poverty.  

 

J-PAL South Asia, based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in India, leads J-PAL’s initiatives in the region. Over more than a decade, J-PAL South Asia has executed over 240 randomized evaluations, contributing to evidence-based policy-making and scaling effective development programs.

 

 

### **Key Responsibilities**  

1. **Data Collection Management:**  

   – Design and implement survey instruments aligned with research objectives.  

   – Supervise field teams to ensure adherence to protocols and data accuracy.  

 

2. **Survey Design and Implementation:**  

   – Develop culturally appropriate survey tools for data collection.  

 

3. **Fieldwork Supervision:**  

   – Monitor field operations, ensuring compliance with project protocols.  

 

4. **Training:**  

   – Train field staff on project guidelines and data collection procedures.  

 

5. **Data Analysis:**  

   – Clean and prepare datasets for analysis using statistical software (e.g., STATA).  

   – Conduct preliminary data analysis to support research findings.  

 

6. **Project Coordination:**  

   – Engage with stakeholders, including partner organizations and government agencies.  

   – Manage logistics, procurement, and field operations.  

 

7. **Documentation and Reporting:**  

   – Maintain detailed records of research activities.  

   – Assist in drafting project reports, policy briefs, and donor communications.  

 

8. **Ethics and Compliance:**  

   – Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and obtain necessary IRB approvals.  

 

9. **Continuous Learning:**  

   – Stay updated on the latest research methods and developments in poverty alleviation.

 

 

### **Qualifications**  

– **Education:** Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, sociology, social sciences, public policy, or a related field.  

– **Experience:** Previous experience in development research is preferred.  

– **Skills:**  

  – Strong quantitative and analytical skills.  

  – Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Hindi (native fluency) is essential.  

  – Proficiency in STATA or similar data analysis software.  

  – Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work independently in rural settings.
