Position: Research Associate, Livelihoods

Time Commitment: 6 months 

Location: Remote / Delhi / Bangalore/ Mumbai

The Opportunity

The Research Associate will be an integral part of the Practice Area vertical , which is setting up a small and entrepreneurial team focused on the thematic area of livelihood. The person will focus on creating knowledge derivatives such as primers, perspectives (Op-eds), data-led graphics and other such knowledge outputs to communicate and influence the sector towards creating sustainable and decent employment opportunities. The core focus of the team is on future of work, gender and employment and scaling enterprises.  

The Research Associate will be responsible for a wide range of activities that are listed below.

Developing and strengthening the domain knowledge and practice of Livelihood for Sattva:

  • Support in creating knowledge creation on the the focus areas on livelihood 
  • Support in developing partnerships relevant to Livelihood 
  • Research and develop frameworks and recommendations for influencing philanthropy in livelihood sector. 

Problem Solving and Analysis: 

  • Identify and create multiple solutions for the problem at hand using different thinking approaches.
  • Structuring and performing analysis, synthesizing the information to share critical insights, forming new hypotheses
  • Conducting rigorous secondary and primary research to uncover the insights that support our recommendations to clients. 

Operations 

  • Support the operations of the project/ program, including coordinating with multiple teams 
  • Engage with the client teams on the ground to effectively implement the  programs, ensuring focus on impact first 
  • Creating reports, tools to inform the effectiveness of the project, on-ground  efforts 
  • Supporting the team in project management and delivery 
  • Maintaining and recording all critical documents associated with project  management, planning, and closure 
  • Work with the team to ensure timely delivery of projects deliverables and  consistently deliver high-quality documents 
  • Support in the documentation of learnings and potentially the creation of reusable  knowledge from the projects

Background and Qualifications 

The Research Associate should have the following:  

  • 2 to 4 years of professional experience in a role involving strong research, writing and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated interest or knowledge in livelihood sector, preferably in skilling and employment, gender and labourforce,  scaling MSMEs
  • Strong problem solving skills; demonstrated ability to identify business issues, form hypotheses, design and conduct analyses, and synthesise insights into recommendations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; strong executive presence
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with people at different levels in an organisation
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively in verbal and written forms
  • Proficiency in English through Powerpoint, Word and Excel

Location and Remuneration

The position will be based out of Mumbai (Preferred) / Delhi / Bangalore and will involve travel to Sattva Headquarters in Bangalore (for non-Bangalore locations) and other locations as required. We follow a strong performance-oriented approach towards remuneration, and it will be decided as per the background & experience of the candidate.
