**Position:** Research Associate/Senior Research Associate  

**Location:** Chandigarh, India

**About the Organization:**  

J-PAL is a global research center dedicated to reducing poverty through evidence-based policy-making. J-PAL South Asia, based in India, conducts randomized impact evaluations and works with partners to scale effective programs.

 

**Position Overview:**  

The Research Associate/Senior Research Associate will lead impact evaluations in India, working on cutting-edge development research. The role involves field management, data collection, analysis, and project coordination under the supervision of senior researchers.

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

– Support Principal Investigators (PIs) in refining research design and program interventions.

– Design and implement survey instruments aligned with research objectives.

– Supervise field teams to ensure accurate data collection and compliance with protocols.

– Train field staff on project and data collection protocols.

– Clean, prepare, and analyze data using statistical software like STATA or R.

– Coordinate with stakeholders, manage logistics, and ensure ethical standards in research.

– Document activities, assist in report writing, and stay updated on research developments.

 

**Skills and Attributes:**

– Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

– Attention to detail for accurate data management.

– Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi.

– Problem-solving, adaptability, and team player qualities.

– Proficiency in STATA and MS Office; familiarity with randomized controlled trials is preferred.

 

**Desired Qualifications:**

– Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in economics, sociology, public policy, or related fields.

– Experience in development research, preferably in rural India.

– Understanding of socio-economic, gender-related, and cultural issues in India.

– Strong management and organizational skills.

– Native proficiency in Hindi is preferred.
