The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) is a global research center dedicated to reducing poverty by ensuring that policy decisions are informed by scientific evidence. With over 194 affiliated professors at leading universities worldwide, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to address critical questions in the fight against poverty.
J-PAL South Asia, based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in India, leads J-PAL’s initiatives in the South Asia region. The organization focuses on conducting rigorous research, building partnerships for evidence-based policymaking, and scaling effective programs to combat poverty.

**Qualifications:**
– **Education:** Master’s degree in economics, quantitative economics, social sciences, data sciences, computer science, or a related field.
– **Experience:** At least three years of relevant work experience in applied economics research, preferably in development research.
– **Skills:** Strong understanding of experimental methods and design, excellent quantitative skills, and familiarity with statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python. Experience supervising data collection teams and managing field research is a plus.
– **Attributes:** Proven management experience, ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, and strong communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Portfolio Coordination:**
– Oversee the collaboration between academic researchers, field implementation teams, and research associates.
– Define project indicators and design data collection tools.
– Develop detailed project plans and monitor progress through regular stakeholder meetings.
2. **Supervision:**
– Mentor research associates in designing data collection instruments and managing data processes.
– Ensure high standards of data quality and integrity.
– Supervise the design and execution of field experiments to test research hypotheses.
3. **Budget and Schedule Management:**
– Oversee project budgets and ensure efficient use of financial resources.
– Monitor project timelines to meet deliverables.
4. **Reports and Communication:**
– Prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders.
– Communicate technical results to non-technical audiences effectively.
5. **Quality Control:**
– Implement quality control measures for research activities.
– Address issues related to data quality or project execution promptly.
