Programme Context

Peepul is entirely impact-driven and aims to provide all students with Computing and Problem-solving skills, which are essential for them to succeed in the 21st-century workplace. Using open-source technology like www.code.org, Peepul aims to provide quality computer science education to students across the schools.

Role Description

The role of the School Coordinator is critical to the success of the continued partnership as school coordinator will be an excellent executor who will independently lead and drive program implementation on the ground acting as a support for teachers at the school. The ideal candidate should be able to support and influence stakeholders through excellent communication skills and work towards building sustainable relationships with multiple levels in the education system. This is therefore an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to play a key role in scaling the initiative with enormous potential impact. To enable programme’s success, we require to rapidly roll-out and scale our support to reach all students and teachers under the program.

Responsibilities would include:

Supporting in timely implementation of programs with quality

• Managing on-ground execution of Peepul’s programs with the teachers at the schools

• Frequently visiting schools to oversee program implementation and identify areas of support

• Providing timely support to teachers towards understanding and engaging with Amazon Future Engineering (AFE) program.

• Understanding and navigating the teachers to enable impact

• Capture and communicate feedback from ground to enable strengthening of program design and implementation

• Owning and delivering on critical parts of program implementation

• Conducting sessions, trainings with teachers on strengthening their program understanding and/or supporting with implementing.

• Creating mechanisms for increasing impact (e.g., coaching teachers on program implementation) Managing relationships with government officials and other stakeholders

• Building and managing relationships with government officials across schools to enable success of Peepul’s programme

• Integrating with and understanding the lives of government teachers and officials deeply, to identify pain points Widening and deepening Peepul’s understanding of field realities and activities

• Develop and maintain effective feedback mechanism to ensure and support evidence-based planning and decision making.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent

• Experience with coding languages and platforms like code.org

• Some teaching experience, ideally with some experience of teaching children from diverse backgrounds

• At least 2 years of total work experience, preferably in working with government programs or large-scale education projects

• Experience of having worked on project implementation, capacity building and stakeholder management in previous projects

• Resilience, motivation, and performance orientation – sets and achieves high standards for self and others

• Good communication, planning and organizational skills

• Analytical skills, the use of data to understand student progress and, working with other colleagues, to adapt teaching methods and lesson plans accordingly

• Flexible and adaptable style, responding positively to changing demands

• Fluency in Hindi and English is a must
