Program Overview for Climate:

At WRI India’s Climate Program, we focus on integrated solutions that can enable a low-carbon transition in India, while ensuring that the transition is equitable and just for its people and protects natural resources. Through applied research, the use of frameworks and tools, partnerships with key stakeholders and ground-level implementation, we seek to achieve impact at scale. 

Position Overview:

Employing 110 million workers, MSMEs are the backbone of India’s economy. While the MSME sector has already been struggling due to financing, technology and capacity constraints, the consecutive waves of COVID-19 have impacted almost 95% of firms. MSMEs are also vulnerable to impacts of climate change. Increasingly, MSMEs will need support to adapt to climate change impacts, implement climate actions to remain competitive, and adopt to the industry and policy trends moving India towards clean energy economy to ensure that the transition is just and equitable.

The selected candidate will work closely with the project lead(s), program director and WRI India’s core communications team. The role would entail creation and editing of communication content designed to elevate the outreach and impact of the work. Hence, the candidate with a background in mass communications, data journalism, environmental studies with a work experience in the environment and climate change domain is highly preferred. Additionally, knowledge and/or interest in visual design and proficiency in regional languages will be a bonus.

Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibility:

• Contribute to detailed communications strategy in line with the project requirement(s) and in coordination with project team, climate program and core communications team

• Support development and dissemination of video blogs, stories, infographics and voices from the field.

• Support content development and implementation of awareness/capacity building workshops

• Proofread and edit content developed by the team

• Plan and implement the dissemination of research products through appropriate channels and/or events

• Provide necessary communications support for organizing high-level convening, roundtables, seminars, etc.

• Develop, design and edit content that will go into the web asset and/or microsite and take part in the conceptualization of the web asset and/or microsite

• Co-author and/or edit blogs, articles, and other communication products

Additional Responsibility:

• Manage quality and ensure timely dissemination of social media content, emailers and newsletters

• Assist the team with planned events, launch of research papers, op-eds, articles, etc.

• Assist the team with executing online events on Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, WebEx, etc.

• Assist the team in executing pre- and post – event social media outreach strategy

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

• Post-graduate in the related field of mass communication, data journalism public relations, economics, sustainability or environmental studies

• At least 4 years of full-time work experience working in public relations, journalism, communications

• Demonstrated experience of working in issues related to social, environmental, and climate change related issues

• Demonstrated experience in developing video blogs, stories from the field, infographics, etc.

• Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Canva, Pardot, Salesforce, Cision, Asana and similar tools preferred

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced complex office environment, both independently and as part of the team

• Highly motivated, proactive work style, excellent organizational and project management skills. Keen attention to detail

Salary and Benefits: INR 11,00,000 to INR 13,00,000 CTC 

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Duration: 1 years (extendable based on performance and project requirements)

Location: Delhi/Bangalore/Mumbai, India

Start Date: At the earliest
