About the Organization
Established in 2007, the National Health Systems Resource Centre’s mandate is to assist in policy and strategy development in the provision and mobilization of technical assistance to the states and in capacity building for the Ministry of Health.
Job Responsibilities
- The Consultant is expected to provide technical support to ED Secretariat and other division of NHSRC on a broad range of issues pertaining to law and health, including but not limited to:
- Monitor and Assess compliance with health-related laws and regulations.
- Provide expert legal advice and guidance to ED-Secretariat division, NHSRC and relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development, review and enhancement of health-related policies and legislation.
- Foster stake holder collaboration and representation in legal forums and consultations.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with health-related laws and regulations. Offer expert legal advice and guidance on legal provisions, interpretation and implementation.
- Assist in the development, review and enhancement of health-related policies and legislation.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support policy formulation and decision- making processes.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to incorporate legal perspectives into policies and legislation.
- Represent the NHSRC and associated entities in legal forums, consultations, and collaborative initiatives.
- Provide recommendations for improving legal compliance and minimizing legal risks.
- Stay updated on emerging legal developments, trends and best practices in the healthcare sector.
- Undertake any other assignments assigned by Executive Director NHSRC and Advisors.
Education Qualification /Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum qualification of graduate degree in Law from a reputed University Post qualification relevant work experience of minimum 5 years
- A working knowledge of important health related laws
- Excellent legal research, analysis, drafting and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel to states & districts to provide technical assistance
- Ability to work individually with minimum supervision and on different assignments simultaneously to meet tight timelines
- An understanding of the public health structure and systems in India
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Computer proficiency with high level of familiarity with commonly used packages like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Desirable
- A Master’s degree in Public Health / Management / Law
- Work experience in areas of health law and policy, including on issues of hospitals, healthcare, mental health, gender, sexuality, disability, HIV, TB, tobacco control etc.
- Research experience on relevant areas of law and health
- Published work in the area of inter-linkages between law, health and equity
