Directly Managing: Consultant, Alumni Impact

Towards our ten-year vision, the Alumni Impact team at Teach For India will create more Alumni entrepreneurs and enable the larger Alumni community to act collectively for educational equity. The Senior Manager, Alumni Impact will play a key role in building the foundations for this team, designing transformative learning experiences, launching new experiments and partnerships, and supporting the growth of leaders across our Alumni network.

As a Senior Manager, Alumni Impact you will:

  • Design and independently execute high-leverage opportunities for our Alumni to learn and act collectively towards transforming the lives of 1 in 10 children in our regions
  • Design an ecosystem of support for Alumni entrepreneurs to grow their organizations & scale their impact on children. Nurture the growth of and collaboration between Alumni organizations within the network.
  • Build a community for our leads of Alumni Chapters across cities to learn from & with each other
  • Support 7-8 individuals (dotted-line reporting) across 8 cities to better leverage Alumni strategy to further their regional goals
  • Create a peer-learning ecosystem for our regional team members to actively shape strategy & collaborate on projects through key working groups
  • Identify relevant capacities & co-design experiences required for our graduating cohorts to transition into Alumni who are mobilizers of collective action
  • Plan creative campaigns, podcasts, newsletters, reports, microsites etc. to make our initiatives and impact visible
  • Act as a thought partner to the Director, Alumni Impact and to select Vertical Heads on strategy, annual goals, new initiatives etc. and hold a birds’ eye view of the cities to leverage economies of scale where possible
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key Alumni, industry experts and donors and actively influence them to advocate and act for educational equity

As a People Manager

  • Building a robust pipeline of talent to lead the organization
  • Managing and coaching the team members to ambitious outcomes
  • Driving engagement, growth, and retention of team members
  • Engineering and overseeing a monitoring and evaluation system, coupled with strategic direction, to guide our abilities to continuously improve

As a Senior Manager at Teach For India

  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities
  • Driving internal alignment and support for Teach For India’s core Programs
  • Serving as an ambassador of Teach For India and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply
  • Supporting with key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • 5-8+ years of relevant work experience in external-facing roles (e.g. public relations, management consulting, business development, community building), especially in the development/education sector
  • Experience in managing, executing, and taking complete ownership of multiple projects at the same time
  • Experience working independently and making strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in people development and solving complex community-related challenges
