Role locations: Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bengaluru

The Senior Manager, Communications, plays a critical role in Teach For India’s branding, social media and advocacy efforts. The role impacts the overall visibility of our work, our ability to connect and recruit digital audiences, and our collective impact in a big way.

The Senior Manager will report to the Director, Marketing and Communications and support management of a team of 6-12 individuals. They will be involved in sourcing, curating, and disseminating impactful stories to 3 important stakeholders: prospective Teach For India Fellows, the Teach For India Alumni community, and existing and potential Donors. They will support the Director in operationalizing an impactful communications and brand strategy for Teach For India.

We seek someone who enjoys content generation, creative and data-backed problem-solving, storytelling, amplification, and campaign strategizing. We are looking for someone with an eye for design, a high bar for quality in written communications, the ability to communicate impact in a compelling and authentic way, the agility to leverage emerging opportunities and online communication trends, and an enthusiasm for meaningful dialogue and relationship-building with our network of talent, students, and partners.

Responsibilities:

Enhance Communications & Brand Presence:

  • Develop strategic objectives and plans for increased brand visibility on social media.
  • Plan and execute campaigns to boost brand awareness
  • Analyse campaign and engagement data to drive strategies that meet our goals
  • Collaborate with partners, influencers, celebrities, and creatives to advocate for the brand.

2. Team Leadership:

  • Guide a team to execute a clear vision, goals, and strategy
  • Manage, train, mentor, and evaluate performance for a 4-6 member creative and content team
  • Foster a strong team culture in line with organizational core values

3. Content Creation and Online Platform Management:

  • Curate creative content from various stakeholders
  • Identify and seize opportunities and trends across online platforms
  • Produce and publish PR and video content
  • Maintain and take ownership of the organization’s website and website traffic
  • Lead the annual creation of Teach For India’s impact report for public use and donor reporting

4. Manage Key Campaigns & Partnerships:

  • Develop campaigns to support annual recruitment and fundraising efforts
  • Manage amplification and vendor partnerships

5. Alumni Engagement:

  • Strategically engage and spotlight alumni, including Fellow alumni and Student alumni
  • Oversee quality and execution of annual graduation/induction events for the Alumni community

6. Event Planning and Coverage:

  • Manage workflow and oversee communications and design team support for organizational events

7. Brand & Leadership Voice:

  • Provide strategic insights and content ideas to the CEO and Director, Marketing &
  • Communications towards developing strong, brand and mission-aligned social media voices among leadership

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in any field
  • 5-6+ years of relevant work experience in communications, marketing and PR roles
  • Excellent communication – written and verbal
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Executive presence and authentic leadership style to represent the organisation
  • Ability to drive team culture and inspire a young team
  • Entrepreneurial attitude- can work independently, with an ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organisational, project management, reporting and analytics skills
  • Agile, equanimous and action-oriented stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations:

  • Previous experience working in the development/education sector
  • Experience with having worked with CXOs/Senior Management stakeholders
  • Prior experience in managing teams
