**Job Summary:**
The Senior Manager, Major Gifts & Planned Giving will lead the team responsible for fundraising efforts exceeding $10,000, supporting both the Wikimedia Foundation and the Wikimedia Endowment. This role is crucial in expanding our major gifts program and developing a robust planned giving program. Success requires an entrepreneurial approach, utilizing traditional and innovative fundraising techniques to cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors.
**Responsibilities:**
* Manage and mentor a team of fundraising professionals and consultants, setting goals, reviewing performance, and providing professional development.
* Achieve annual major gifts ($10,000+) and planned giving targets, collaborating with other fundraising leaders to create effective donor journeys.
* Develop and implement a sustainable major giving strategy for the Wikimedia Foundation and Endowment, including the major gifts component of a $100M campaign.
* Lead the development and implementation of the planned giving program, building a strong pipeline of planned giving commitments.
* Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Development and other team members to enhance the events strategy, strengthen donor stewardship, and build lasting relationships with major and planned giving donors.
* Partner with the Endowment Board of Trustees to develop fundraising strategies, implement fundraising initiatives, and identify potential new board members.
* Cultivate and steward a diverse portfolio of donors and prospects, including direct solicitations and high-value relationship building with executives and board members.
* Oversee portfolio management, major donor prospecting, and systems support for gift officers.
* Define cross-team strategies and goals with other fundraising program managers and subject matter experts.
* Generate creative solutions to improve donor experience and fundraising performance.
* Coordinate with other Wikimedia Foundation teams to maximize opportunities and enhance organizational impact.
**Skills and Experience:**
* Seven or more years of successful fundraising experience, with proven success in raising significant funds (6-7 figures) from individual major donors and through planned gifts.
* Experience creating and implementing successful fundraising strategies, ideally for an endowment and/or planned giving program.
* Proven ability to lead and mentor teams of fundraising professionals.
* Broad knowledge of development campaign activities, including direct solicitations, planned giving, event planning, institutional grantmaking, and fundraising database utilization.
* Strong relationship-building skills, with experience working with major donors and understanding their objectives.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including writing solicitations, donor correspondence, and presentations.
* Ability to maintain donor confidentiality and exercise discretion.
* Experience working in a distributed workforce, utilizing various communication methods, and working autonomously.
* Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity in a rapidly changing environment.

**Compensation:**
The anticipated annual pay range for U.S.-based applicants is US$134,147 to US$203,434. For applicants located outside the US, the pay range will be adjusted to the country of hire. Salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and location. We do not consider salary history in our compensation decisions.
