**Job Summary**

We are seeking a talented and passionate Senior ML Engineer to join our growing team. As an NLP specialist for farmer.chat, you will be responsible for developing, deploying, and optimizing cutting-edge machine learning models to power intelligent conversational bots for smallholder farmers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and government partners to create tailored NLP solutions for the agricultural domain.

**Key Responsibilities**

* **Model Development:** Develop and implement machine learning models and algorithms for various NLP tasks such as query understanding and decomposition, query reformulation, and semantic similarity matching.

* **Data Preprocessing:** Analyze and prepare agricultural multi-modal data (text, voice, video, etc.) from diverse sources, ensuring data quality, relevance, and suitability for model training.

* **Model Optimization:** Employ state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies to optimize language models, ensuring effective performance in low-resource settings and local languages.

* **Model Deployment and Integration:** Deploy trained models into staging and production environments, seamlessly integrating them with our conversational bot platform.

* **Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:** Monitor model performance in real-world deployments, tracking key metrics like accuracy, latency, drift, readability scores, etc. 

* **Stakeholder Engagement:** Collaborate with government partners, product teams, and engineering teams to understand their needs and effectively implement solutions.

**Qualifications**

* **Education:** Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on machine learning and NLP.

* **Experience:** 5+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer, data scientist, or software engineer with hands-on experience in deploying machine learning models.

* **Programming Skills:** Proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and NLTK.

* **NLP Knowledge:** In-depth understanding of NLP techniques including language modeling, text classification, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and machine translation.

* **Software Engineering Skills:** Strong software engineering skills, including proficiency in Github/Gitlab, Docker, and cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

* **Problem-solving Skills:** Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to understand complex requirements and develop innovative solutions.

* **Team Player:** Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adept at working effectively in a collaborative team environment and contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence.
