The broader goal is to use decentralized renewable energy to facilitate good health, improved well being, last mile delivery of health services, reduced mortality etc. through the integration of climate inclusive technologies into the healthcare services.

  • The Senior Program Manager for Solar Technology position requires technical expertise in solar technology with an understanding of the impact of energy efficient technology on public health.
  • He/She should have a good sectoral understanding and proven experience in technical management and strategy, team management, coordination between multiple departments and stakeholders;
  • who is able to adapt to diverse situations and Energy for Health program requirements.
  • Ability to develop positive, professional working relationships with govt and partners.

The Senior Program Manager for Solar Technology is expected to scout, support and scale up sustainable energy access programs and technologies in order to enhance essential services under healthcare. Understanding of Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) and its integration within healthcare technologies will be primary while catering to the underserved communities.
Key responsibilities for the position:

  • Anchor, provide direction and manage (end to end) solar technology division of EnergyForHealth program at SELCO foundation.
  • Provide solar integrated technical designs and the techno commercial feasibility for projects based on the field survey and need assessment.
  • Provide programmatic and technical support in rolling out high impact technologies across identified sectors and areas of work.
  • Develop and share knowledge and expertise in technical aspects for scaling of sustainable energy driven technologies across 25000 health facilities.
  • Ensure R&D including market research for existing technologies and scout for new technologies that are relevant considering EnergyForHealth program needs and demands.
  • Ensure quality assurance, continuous quality improvement (CQI),conduct the technical evaluation of the proposals and prepare technical reports related to the program to ensure design outputs meet design input requirements.
  • Supervise troubleshooting activities on the technical issues across the program.
  • Creative problem solving for operational challenges and escalating where required.
  • Work with procurement and vendors for material procurement, technology customization as required.
  • Work closely with the vendors / suppliers and the operations lead to develop mechanisms for post-installation operations, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Build and share knowledge and expertise on the technical aspects required for scaling of sustainable energy driven technologies for underserved communities
  • Identify and develop success stories under the program as case studies for wider dissemination of DRE driven technology for healthcare.
  • Compile periodic (biweekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual) technology scaling reports and provide relevant technology driven information for internal and external reporting purposes.
  • Work closely with the director on setting program priorities, directions, and responding to requests for technical support from govt. and partners.
    Who can apply:
  •  Minimum   10 years of work experience in the Renewable Energy sector or in the Engineering -Technical and Technology background is preferred.
  • Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or a technical and Technical background is preferred.
  • Experience working with government programs and systems for large scale public health programs especially health systems strengthening is preferable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory mechanisms, certifications and quality assurance of healthcare devices are essential.
  • Prior experience of working with agencies that deploy sustainable energy driven and energy efficient innovative healthcare technologies would be an added advantage.
  • Understanding about grassroots communities, languages, health seeking practices etc. will be preferred.
  • Strong skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in difficult terrains across the country as and when required
