**Job Description: Senior Programme Associate – Air Pollution and Waste Management**

 

**Location:** Noida, India  

**Experience Required:** 5 – 8 years

**Air Pollution and Waste Management Programme:**  

This programme addresses the critical challenge of rising air pollution across India by improving policies and practices through active collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. The Senior Programme Associate will play a key role in executing research and engagement outputs for this programme.

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

– Support and execute research initiatives focused on air pollution and waste management.

– Assist in designing research projects, formulating strategies, methodologies, and detailed activity plans.

– Analyze and interpret data from various sources, including satellite measurements and global emission inventories.

– Develop and manage emission inventories to assess sources of air pollution.

– Customize and implement regional-scale chemical transport models (e.g., WRF-Chem, WRF-CAMx) for accurate simulations.

– Conduct policy gap analyses and identify key drivers of change through literature reviews and stakeholder consultations.

– Support outreach and communication initiatives, including designing the programme’s outreach strategy.

– Build partnerships with government agencies, industry, and other stakeholders.

– Author articles and communication materials suitable for public and government audiences.

– Engage with policymakers and foster collaborative interactions with government stakeholders.

– Organize roundtables, convenings, and report release meetings, and present research findings at forums.

 

**Qualifications & Competencies:**

– Master’s degree in atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences/engineering, or a related field.

– 5 – 8 years of work experience in research, consulting, or advisory-related fields focusing on air pollution.

– Comprehensive understanding of India’s Air Pollution sector, including the National Clean Air Programme and air quality regulations.

– Proficiency in Python or other programming languages for data analysis and visualization.

– Hands-on experience with geospatial tools and libraries to create spatial distribution maps.

– Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative research using software like Excel, R, and QGIS.

– Experience managing research teams and organizing structured data collection.

– Authored at least two research publications related to Air Pollution in the last five years.

– Proficiency in multi-stakeholder engagement and leading presentations.

– Ability to build connections with a diverse group of people on research and policy issues.

– Pre-existing network of stakeholders in the air pollution sector.
