**Job Description: Senior Research Associate – Assessment Unit, ASER Centre**

 

**Location:** New Delhi  

**Experience Required:** 2+ years  

 

**About the Company:**  

Pratham Education Foundation was established in 1995 to provide pre-school education to children in Mumbai slums. Over the past two decades, Pratham has grown to become India’s largest NGO, delivering quality education to underprivileged youth and children across over 21 states and union territories. ASER Centre, a part of Pratham, is an autonomous research and assessment unit founded in 2008. It conducts the largest citizen-led annual household survey of children in India and works to generate evidence on social sector programs, particularly education. The Assessment Unit at ASER Centre focuses on designing educational assessments and frameworks for various projects across subjects, including Early Childhood Education (ECE), Primary, Upper-primary age groups, EdTech programmes, and tools to measure teachers’ effectiveness.

 

**Key Responsibilities:**  

– Designing educational assessments and frameworks for various projects.  

– Developing technical reports, assessment tools, and theory of change documents.  

– Translating and validating items to enhance the quality of assessment tools.  

– Facilitating pilot testing, monitoring, and enumerator training.  

– Drafting project reports, articles, and presentations with appropriate visualizations.  

– Managing project timelines, budgets, and operational plans.  

– Traveling to rural locations for activities related to assessments.  

 

**Qualifications:**  

– Master’s degree in education, psychology, measurement, or a related field.  

– 1-2 years of experience in assessment development, implementation, or analysis.  

– Familiarity with assessment frameworks, test development, and educational measurement theories.  

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  

– Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.  

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS), and assessment platforms.  

– Ability to work collaboratively, adapt to changing priorities, and handle tight deadlines.  

 

**Skills:**  

– Attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standardized assessments.  

– Data-driven decision-making and strong interpersonal skills.  

– Comfort with traveling extensively to rural locations across India.  

 

**Duration:** Minimum 2 years’ commitment.  

 

This is a full-time position based in New Delhi, with travel as required. The remuneration will be competitive within the Indian philanthropy pay scale, based on experience and qualifications.
