About the Program: Empowering Grassroots (EG)

Empowering Grassroots is an integrated initiative with the dual objective of Catalysing effective and impactful social development projects through grant making and building sustainable partner organizations at the grassroots through systematic training and handholding.

Unlike conventional grant making models for project funding where the association between the grant provider and recipient is limited to the achievement of project goals, Empowering Grassroots takes an additional step in ensuring that the partner’s capacity is built over the project duration. And partners are provided time and support to practice the learnings from trainings for implementation and to create sustainability.

Essential Functions

Business Development

  • Responsible for the business development/fundraising for the EG program from the domestic foundations/HNI’s.
  • Pro-actively exploring opportunities of partnership & resources from national/international grant making organizations, respond to relevant call for proposals UN system, EU, Bilateral Agencies
  • Expand visibility of EG program through exploring networking and strategic alliances with relevant stakeholders including government
  • Establishing collaborations with government as well as academic institutions for the accreditation and empanelment of EG program.
  • Represent Smile Foundation at various forums, networking and strategic alliances building in consultation with the HOP/ COO and the communication department.

Programme Management

  • Execution the Empowering Grassroots (EG) program end to end
  • Maintain and update knowledge of the program and service offerings of the Empowering Grassroots (EG) with good evidential detailing and developing periodic project briefs of the project for wider sharing.
  • Develop Annual Business Plan and ensure its achievement.
  • Develop ‘Program Cycle Management’ process for tracking project deliverables as well as growth and progress of trainees and trainee organisations of online and classroom courses.
  • Supervising Teams on timely execution with appropriate quality control mechanism as well as closing of projects including, expenditure as per the annual program plan.

Skills, Qualification & Experience

  • Post-graduate qualification in Social Sciences/ Social Work /Management with demonstrable experience of fundraising and managing large capacity building Program.
  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience with at least 2 years of experience in dealing with Government and donor agencies, especially Institutional Donors, UN, Bilateral &International Agencies and Foundations with proven experience of donor and contract management.
  • Candidates with experience in Institutional/Corporate Foundation fundraising would be preferred.
  • Experience of managing the baselines, project design, program cycle, MLE, proposal and report writing to international donors like USAID, BMGF etc., implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Decent understanding of Impact investment
  • Expertise in carrying out training of trainers; training, mentoring & coaching partner organisations, organisational development
  • Should be open to travel
