We are best known for getting India its Good Samaritan Law and developing the “Zero-Fatality Corridor” solution to transform dangerous highways into “safeways”. We are registered as a not-for-profit organisation to ensure complete mission alignment.

We seek a Senior Policy Manager who can execute and oversee all Policy Advocacy and Community Engagement work at SLF. The incumbent would engage with key stakeholders, Policy making bodies at Central and State Governments and facilitate the implementation of relevant Statutes on Road Safety / the Motor Vehicle Act/ Good Samaritan Law etc. This role is required to create advocates for ‘improving safety on roads’ across key governmental stakeholders. The position reports to the Director of Public Policy and Research.

Role and Responsibilities

As the lead manager for SaveLIFE Foundation’s Policy Work, the Senior Policy Manager will make sure our public policy work continues to grow in alignment with organisational priorities and should demonstrate commitment to the organisation’s mission. This entails:

Policy Development, Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement:

● Actively lead and engage stakeholders in developing policy positions that align with the organisation’s mission and values.

● Support in developing and implementing comprehensive advocacy strategies that combine top-down and bottom-up tactics, coalition building, and targeted engagement with policymakers.

● Advocate for policy change and implementation at national, sub-national and district levels that advance India’s mission of reducing road crash deaths by half by 2030

● Nurture existing relationships and build new relationships with governmental bodies, academia, subject matter expert, community groups, and other stakeholders to collaborate on policy initiatives.

● Support the leadership team in representing the organisation’s policy positions in meetings, conferences, and public forums.

Research, Analysis & Communication:

● Conduct and manage the team to conduct in-depth research to produce policy briefs and other position papers on critical issues.

● Analyse data and trends to inform evidence-based policy recommendations. As well as lead the team in creating strong narratives stitched with data.

● Support the leadership team in communicating policy issues to diverse audiences through media, presentations, and events.

● Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at local, state, and national levels that could impact the organisation’s work.

● Assist in grant writing and fundraising by providing policy-related information and narratives to support funding proposals.

Professional Experience

● Proficient in strong writing, thorough research, meticulous editing, and impactful communication for developing compelling policy positions and effective stakeholder engagement.

● Minimum seven years of experience with appropriate qualifications. At least three years of experience leading and mentoring a team of policy professionals, demonstrating a proven ability to guide and inspire teams towards shared objectives.

● Displays proven influencing and networking skills, enabling the synthesis of insights to formulate informed policy recommendations.

● A proven track record of handling government relationships and a problem-solving attitude.

● Proficiently manages multiple tasks while adhering to tight deadlines.
