WWF-India’s sustainable business programme is aimed at working with business and industry in improving environmental and social outcomes. These engagements help corporates (1) understand the impact of their business/ financing and supply chains on critical natural habitats, such as deforestation, extractives, fossil fuel emissions, and (2) find solutions that mitigate business risks and enhance business opportunities that promote positive conservation outcomes, such as sustainable finance, water stewardship, climate innovation, renewable energy, circularity management.

WWF India recognises the importance of circular economy in the promotion of conservation. The circularity, while reducing the impact on virgin resources, also mitigates ecological footprints. WWF India is positioned ideally to translate the related science into action.

WWF India is looking for an incumbent in the position of Sr. Specialist- Circular Economy, working towards the larger goal of promoting circularity among businesses. The incumbent shall be expected to work in sectors like e-waste, plastics, photovoltaic cells etc. to promote circularity.

Location: New Delhi

Job Profile:

  • Developing and managing projects on circular economy in the areas which intersect with natural ecosystems.
  • Developing projects on circularity in sectors such as batteries, plastics, e-waste, PV etc.
  • Working on Life Cycle Assessment in critical sectors, mapping resource utilization and emission footprints.
  • Mapping of upstream and downstream value-chains to explore and establish a business case for recycling.
  • Planning and implementation of projects, including effective delivery and execution as per timelines, reporting and project documentation.
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and leading outreach to drive the adoption of sustainable business practices promoting circular economy in plastics, batteries, solar PV sectors etc. under existing programmes.
  • Facilitating research in the respective areas of work and developing reports, white papers.
  • Developing high quality documentation both technical and non-technical based on primary and secondary research.
  • Facilitating sustainability of circular economy initiatives through market enablers as well as policy advocacy.
  • Developing and manage relationships with external stakeholders, such as corporates, industry associations, social organizations, policy makers, Government agencies etc. to facilitate sectoral transformation.
  • Ideating new project ideas, developing proposals and leveraging opportunities.
  • Communicating and disseminating established project outcomes through advocacy, events, workshops etc.

Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:

  • Master’s Degree in Material Science/ Environmental Science/ Sustainable Development/ Economics or related disciplines, from a recognized university OR
  • MBA in Material Management/ Sustainability Management/ Sustainable Business OR
  • M. Tech. in Material Engineering / Environment Engineering or related disciplines, from a recognized university.
  • Working experience of minimum of 6 to 8 years in the area of Circular Economy in sectors like e-waste, plastics, batteries, photovoltaic cells etc.
  • Research ability to develop white papers, advocacy notes etc.
  • Ability to develop projects on circularity in sectors such as batteries, plastics, e-waste, PV etc.
  • Ability to map to upstream and downstream value-chain to explore and establish business case for recycling, and also doing Life Cycle Assessment for mapping resource utilization and emission footprints.
  • Past experience of working on value-chain development between informal and formal sectors would be an added advantage
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience of proposal development and technical report writing.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders from the Government, industry, think tanks, financial institutions and end users
