What are we solving for in the End Ultra Poverty program?

End Ultra Poverty (EUP) program is solving for households in ultra-poverty through a targeted, multi-faceted and sequenced model called the Graduation Approach which has demonstrated that ultra-poverty can be conquered. 

At The/Nudge we have been piloting this program for the past 3 years and are in the process of catalyzing propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to ending ultra-poverty in India. EUP will:

• continue to implement on its own to iterate the design for impact at scale
• enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support
• enable govt to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support
• continue to generate data on ultra-poverty and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at scale
• build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality.

About the role:

As part of our partnership with the government on the EUP program, The/Nudge Institute has been given the mandate to build out a tech product to enable the implementation of the Graduation Approach; in conjunction with the National & State Rural Livelihood Missions (NRLM/ SRLMs). You will play a pivotal role in building this first-of-its-kind tech product intended for use in Graduation Approach programs across the country.

In this role, you will:

• Manage the cloud deployments of the tech product in coordination with the development team and government stakeholders
• Manage devops and build pipelines on tools such as Sonarqube and Jenkins
• Develop POCs related to tech architecture and implementation for the tech product working closely with the development team. E.g. for implementing event-driven microservices, setting up an L&D engine, etc.
• Work with the product team to develop automation and reporting for operations teams across our own & state implementations of Graduation Approach programs
• Develop simple tech to enable experimentation on program design

Apply if you:

• have a strong motivation to contribute to poverty alleviation efforts in India
• are willing to make periodic field visits to understand the program and the users for whom the tech product is being built
• work with a high level of rigor – especially in implementing development and devops best practices
• have 1-4 years of work experience in development and/ or devops:
• experience working with at least 1 programming language  (Java,  Javascript, Python, etc.) [and/or]
• Experience with working with Kubernetes [and/or]
• Experience setting up cloud environments on AWS or Azure
• have the ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous startup environment (bias for action and curiosity to learn)
