**Job Summary:**

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Veterinary Manager to oversee and administer veterinary care related to emergency response, animal rescue, and rehabilitation operations for PETA India. This role will involve collaborating with government agencies, NGOs, and local bodies to promote stray and animal welfare through sterilization and other initiatives.

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

* Oversee the delivery of PETA India’s veterinary emergency and rescue response in Mumbai and Delhi, including treatment administration, both directly and remotely.

* Ensure that Emergency Response Team (ERT) staff, office assistants, and others involved in emergency response are familiar with and understand PETA India’s SOPs on emergency response, animal rescue, and rehabilitation.

* Respond to veterinary queries through various channels like the emergency response number and general information email account, providing effective veterinary treatment and care advice.

* Ensure compliance with PETA India’s emergency response recording and reporting system, working closely with the ERT team.

* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of handling animal emergencies and veterinary queries on a regular basis.

* Foster a robust network of veterinarians, animal-protection organizations, and volunteers for emergency response, rescue, and rehabilitation.

* Manage and maintain a database of contacts and services.

* Serve as a liaison between PETA India and veterinarians, organizations, and volunteers, including attending meetings to facilitate the implementation of high-quality services.

* Assist the Administration Department in procuring emergency response supplies and equipment.

* Maintain inventory of emergency response supplies and equipment, ensuring proper storage, maintenance, quality, and quantity checks.

* Coordinate professional development training for ERT staff and office assistants on animal handling, restraint, first aid, and other relevant skills.

* Ensure that emergency tool kits are adequately stocked and managed.

* Contribute to veterinary-related investigations and provide expert advice on animal cruelty cases and health assessments as directed by the supervisor.

* Prepare and submit regular veterinary reports on emergency response services, sterilization programs, and other investigations and health assessments as instructed by the supervisor.

* Represent PETA India professionally to the public, other organizations, volunteers, veterinarians, government agencies, police, and other stakeholders.

* Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

 

**Qualifications:**

 

* Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc.) degree approved by the Veterinary Council of India.

* Prior experience in a similar role, including working with stray animals, is preferred.

* Demonstrated managerial experience.

* General knowledge of handling veterinary emergency, rescue, and rehabilitation work.

* Strong compassion, responsibility, and self-motivation.

* Fluency in written and verbal Hindi and English.

* Knowledge of other local Indian languages is a plus.

* Computer proficiency.

* Passion for working to end animal cruelty and helping animals in need.

* Outgoing and personable with excellent communication skills.

* Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, including multi-tasking.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Ability to interact professionally with animal-protection organizations, volunteers, contacts, and the general public.

* Ability and willingness to travel independently, as required, for emergency, rescue, and rehabilitation work.
