Brief on the Organization:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health.  PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.

Project Brief:

The NIHR Global Health Research Centre aims to improve care for people with multiple long term conditions by co-designing, implementing and evaluating context specific digital intervention through publc health care system. The intervention will be implemented in Visakhapatnam, Jodhpur and Kathmandu. In addition, the Centre will engage with communities, stakeholders and build capacity of researchers and research supporting staff. The Centre will be co-led by PHFI and University of Leicester.

Deliverables:

  • Develop and maintain Gantt charts/research pipeline ‘boards’ to ensure tasks are completed on-time.
  • Maintain project budgets and ensure spending is in line with the budget.
  • Draft quarterly and annual reports on Centre’s activities and submit them to the funding agency on-time.
  • Co-ordinate with project managers of collaborating institutions for timely submission of reports.
  • Schedule regular meetings of various committees constituted for smooth functioning of the Centre; draft and share the agenda and minutes of the meetings with the committee members; follow up on any pending action items.
  • Work closely with other members of the Centre – Finance manager, Communications manager, Postdocs and research fellows.
  • Work closely with other departments of PHFI – Admin, HR, Finance and Research admin.
  • Ensure timely submission of all applications to the Institutional Ethics Committee of PHFI.
  • Organize research facilitation workshops and short courses – book the venue, arrange travel and stay for the participants and the faculty etc.
  • Follow up with the participants of the workshop and short courses for their feedback.
  • Assist the Centre leadership in selection of candidates for various capacity building courses.
  • Ensure timely payment of stipends to the selected candidates and assist them in obtaining visa and other necessary documents for travel to the UK.
  • Seek bi-annual reports from the candidates on their progress and bottle necks.
  • Schedule regular meeting with the candidates, supervisors and the Centre leadership to discuss progress.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, collaborating and co-applicant institutions.
  • Liaise with PHFI internal departments.
  • Documentation of activities on monthly basis through reports and meeting minutes.
  • Travel as and when required.
  • Any other task as assigned by the Supervisor/PI.

Qualification:

Desirable:

  • Master’s in Business Administration
  • Project management skills and use of relevant software (Trello, MS-Project etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English.

Experience:

Desirable:

  • Minimum of 5-years of experience managing research of high value projects funded by NIH-USA, NIHR-UK, Wellcome Trust-UK, MRC-UK, USAID or any other major funding agency.
    Highly organized, adept at multi-tasking and attention to detail.
  • Experience of international research collaborations.
