DESCRIPTION:

Professors Aaditya Dar and Shilpa Aggarwal have multiple open RA positions to work on development economics projects in the broad areas of governance and agriculture respectively. The positions with Prof. Dar will be based out of the ISB Mohali campus and those with Prof. Aggarwal at Hyderabad. 
The RA will be responsible for various aspects of research such as data preparation, conducting econometric analyses, launching surveys, managing field operations, liaisoning with government and non-profit stakeholders, and preparing presentations and papers. The position with Prof. Aggarwal requires travel to field sites in Africa.

Ideally, the RA would begin work from May 1, 2023, and commit to working for at least one year.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree with a strong academic record and quantitative skills, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • While a degree in economics is not required per se, candidates should have a strong interest in empirical economics. Engineering or computer science students wishing to transition to economics are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in microeconometrics and programming is important. Candidates with prior research experience are strongly preferred, especially those skilled in Stata/R/Python. Knowledge of SQL is a plus.
  • Candidates with experience operationalizing field surveys (using SurveyCTO or ODK) will be preferred.

Previous RAs have gained admission to top PhD programs like Boston College, Cornell, Notre Dame, Rice, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UT Austin, and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
