**Job Title:** Programme Specialist – Livestock
**Organization:** Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India) (AKRSP(I)), a programme of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKRSP(I) works across multiple states in India, focusing on agriculture and climate resilience, work and enterprise, and rural governance.
**Job Location:** Madhepura District, Bihar, India
**Experience Required:** 2-3 years in the development sector, with prior experience in livestock management.
**Job Description:**
The Programme Specialist – Livestock will be responsible for innovating, designing, and implementing efforts to strengthen processes and activities within various livestock projects. Key responsibilities include:
* Carefully understanding program components, project areas, challenges, and opportunities.
* Coordinating implementation with relevant teams in the field.
* Providing training to the team on improved animal health management.
* Supporting community mobilization activities at the village level.
* Managing a team of community-level volunteers (CF) and Pashu Sakhis.
* Maintaining Management Information Systems (MIS) and preparing MIS parameters.
* Preparing quarterly, half-yearly, and annual reports.
* Maintaining program-related documentation.
* Reviewing and monitoring program finances and administration.
* Identifying and documenting best practices.
* Sharing best practices with relevant government departments.
* Engaging with government officials in program events.
* Facilitating the integration of government schemes into the program.
* Maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders and government line departments.
* Performing other tasks as assigned by AKRSP(I) management.
**Skills & Competencies:**
* Strong knowledge of livestock management.
* In-depth understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, particularly within the context of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs).
* Excellent training and facilitation skills.
* Strong liaison skills.
* Community-centric approach and team management abilities.
* Experience in marketing, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and capacity building.
* Fluency in written and spoken English and Hindi.
