Position Summary

The Associate, Acquisitions (Corporate) will support the Development Acquisitions team to build lifelong champions of the cause and to acquire financial support for the movement by the process of onboarding new partners onto the movement. 

This will include identifying suitable partners & connectors, producing compelling written communications, crafting customised collateral and outreach strategies that inspire a base of donors to become long-term investors.

This will require developing extensive knowledge of Teach For India’s programmatic and operational initiatives and impact. 

You will support the process of building new champions for our work across corporations, and engage other key stakeholders in the development space to build a multi-year fundraising pipeline. 

You will also closely monitor developments in the fundraising sector and look for innovative opportunities for funding like crowdfunding campaigns, retail and impact investments.

Team Overview

The Development Team supports Teach For India’s goal towards educational equity in India by acquiring the financial resources & building partnerships necessary to operate and grow. The team raises funds from various sources –  Corporate CSR will continue to be our mainstay for the immediate and medium-term. We are also cultivating Foundations as medium term priorities. Additionally, we are building our capacity in the Multilateral and Impact Investing space by engaging with organisations such as USAID, UNICEF and the likes. Over the past year we have also piloted two online campaigns, and are looking to continue with such campaigns on a yearly basis.

The Acquisitions Team is responsible to onboard new partners each year and explore innovative and sustainable ways of funding. They aim to reduce organization dependency on the continuing partnerships of current donors and build new champions for our cause.

Responsibilities

The Associate, Acquisitions (Corporate) will 

Raise funds by building new champions, and ensure 100% of the new funding goals are met

  • Identify high-potential corporate prospects and develop a strong cultivation strategy.
  • Generating clear and compelling written communications for key external audiences, including the preparation of donor proposals, concept notes, reports, high-stakes emails, PowerPoint presentations, and other communications to inspire prospective donors to support Teach For India
  • Build and allocate portfolios for team members, and drive the pursuit of Corporates and CSR funds.
  • Proactively service leads generated through the pull factor, and engage connectors to build a steady list of new prospects
  • Develop the strategy for corporate outreach by continuously refining and updating our value proposition to fully leverage the strength of our brand
  • Central Project ManagementEngage in bi-monthly collaborations, a space to share insights and learnings with the wider team, and drive for results
  • Support team members and managers in curating essential collateral for new donors and support the management of critical engagement events
  • Ensure that the content and context of all new partnerships are regularly updated onto relevant donor and data management systems like Salesforce and Team Drives
  • Build capacity in team members thereby developing a world-class teamTo support the maintenance and updation of repositories of new proposals and learning documents
  • Engage in bi-annual open spaces to amplify voice and dialogues, surface barriers to execution, problem solve, learn and share, celebrate, collaborate

Additional Responsibilities

  • You will also help during the selection of new Fellows and job placements of graduating ones
  • Volunteering in classrooms is highly recommended to keep in touch with why we do what we do
  • As a part of the Development team, you will make several external contacts. You will need to duly share these with the Recruitment, Alumni, and Communications teams who also deal with external stakeholders. 

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • Graduate degree in any field 
  • 2+ years of work experience in client-facing roles 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong organization & project management skills with attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage time and thrive in a fast paced environment requiring multi-tasking 
  • Ability to collaborate with various teams and build strong professional relationships 
  • Commitment to excellence and accuracy with a drive for results 
  • Ability to interpret and analyse data
