Team: The ESG Research team is responsible for delivering Sustainalytics’ suite of strategically important ESG research and data products which includes ESG risk ratings, climate and impact solutions, and sustainable finance solutions. Alongside producing high-quality research content, the team is also responsible for continuously developing new research products, providing meaningful insights that help our clients in their investment decisions.

Role: The role manages research activities for a set of analysts conducting impact research, such as classifying environmentally sustainable economic activities. The position will oversee the output and quality of the research performed by the team. The ideal candidate would communicate clearly, form strong relationships with stakeholders, proactively identify and manage risks while improving the group’s performance, productivity, and efficiency. 

Responsibilities: 

• Build and lead a team of analysts by providing clear direction, establishing SMART goals, and optimizing resource allocation
• Take point with the team on their questions, feedback, and concerns
• Identify areas for improvement across the team and proactively take steps to improve by arranging individual and group training sessions.
• Develop expertise in research methodologies and translate that into research requirements
• Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs
• Manage the performance review process for the team alongside talent development and talent management 

Qualifications:

Academic eligibility (you meet at least one of the three conditions)

• You have an undergraduate degree in any discipline and at least 4 years of experience in secondary research or data operations.
• You hold one of the following credentials and at least two year of experience in secondary research or data operations: Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) by SASB, Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) by GARP, Certificate in ESG Investing by CFA Institute
• You have a master’s degree in any discipline and at least two year of experience in secondary research or data operations
• Excellent planning, project management and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workflows within a dynamic work environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, particularly MS Excel; experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus
• Client-oriented, innovative, and entrepreneurial mindset
