**Job Summary:**

 

The Chief, Child Protection, reporting to the Deputy Representative, will lead and manage all aspects of child protection programmes/projects. This includes strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, and ensuring sustainable contributions to national and international efforts to protect children from harm and uphold their rights.  The role requires strong leadership, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to driving programmatic change.

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

* Managerial leadership of the child protection section.

* Development and planning of child protection programmes.

* Management, monitoring, and quality control of programme results.

* Provision of advisory services and technical support.

* Advocacy, networking, and partnership building with government, civil society, NGOs, the private sector, and academia.

* Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building.

 

 

**Qualifications:**

 

* **Education:** Advanced university degree in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or a relevant social science field.

* **Experience:** Minimum ten years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection at the international level.  Strong experience influencing policy and advocating for systemic changes to advance child protection and human rights is essential.  Proven track record of establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders is required. Demonstrated ability to provide strong programme, people, and thought leadership, and mentorship to a team is also required.  Experience driving programmatic change and ensuring alignment with new priorities is crucial.

* **Desirable Qualifications:** Strong experience working with vulnerable groups, lawmakers, and law enforcement personnel; strong technical expertise in child protection; ability to make multi-sectoral linkages; capacity to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics; openness to innovation; excellent communication and presentation skills; familiarity with the programming environment in India; experience in programme management in child protection within a UN system agency or organization; experience in both development and humanitarian contexts.

* **Languages:** Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.

 

 

**Contract Type:** Fixed-term appointment (initial two years, with possibility of extension).
