Central Square Foundation (CSF) is a non-profit philanthropic foundation established in 2012. Its mission is to improve the quality of school education for all children in India, particularly those in low-income communities, by transforming the school education system and focusing on improved learning outcomes.
**Position Summary:**
CSF seeks a full-time Consultant based in Guwahati, Assam to support the implementation of the State School Standards Authority (SSSA), as recommended by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This role involves researching education policy and legislation, engaging with stakeholders (Axom Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Department of School Education, Board of Assessment, etc.), and supporting other NEP-related initiatives in Assam. The Consultant will report to the School Governance team’s Project Manager.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Conduct thorough research on national and state-level education policies, acts, and NEP 2020 implementation frameworks.
* Provide technical and strategic support for the SSSA’s creation and operation.
* Coordinate meetings, workshops, and consultations with stakeholders.
* Draft policy briefs, reports, and presentations on SSSA and NEP implementation findings and progress.
* Document research findings, recommendations, and action plans.
* Collaborate with CSF expert teams to contextualize work for the Assam state.
* Manage knowledge and document implementation progress.
**Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:**
* Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university; a Master’s degree in education, development studies, public policy, or social sciences is preferred.
* 0 to 4 years of work experience demonstrating knowledge of research methodology and experience engaging with government stakeholders.
* Understanding of the perspectives of parents who send their children to government schools is advantageous.
* Fluency in English (excellent reading and writing skills). Assamese language proficiency is preferred.
* Experience working with state and district-level governance and institutional structures is preferred.
* Experience in project management, large-scale program implementation, research, and monitoring.
* Strong stakeholder management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
* Familiarity with Assam’s education landscape and regional challenges is beneficial.
