Primary Role:

The Coordinator – Business Development will be responsible for working with Regional Director, Director Operations and Director R&P in supporting business development activities. The person is expected to coordinate with the Business Development team based in Washington DC.

The position will work closely with project teams at ICRW Asia to build future projects with existing donors and tap new donors proactively and in response to emerging BD opportunities. S/he will also work with the Washington DC-BD team members (and other DC-based staff as appropriate) and ensure that BD processes are implemented at Asia office effectively and timely manner. In addition, the coordinator will cocordinate and organize periodic review meetings on business development. S/he will lead scanning new opportunities for funding and developing list of existing and potential donors and collaborators and explore funding opportunities specific to India and Asia Region.

S/he would be involved in proposal development process and would have an overall understanding of the idea and its operationalization. S/he would be required to review budgets in association with Finance team and Program Associate and alert Director Operations of significant deviations along with potential risks of such deviation.   

Education:           Masters in a relevant field (English, Mass Communication, Public Health or others)
Experience:          Two (3) to four (5) years of relevant experience in business development and coordination

Skills and experience:

  • Must possess excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrated experience of coordinating for business development;
  • Should have basic analytical skills;
  • Effective interpersonal skills in order to interface with all levels of internal staff including senior management, as well as external contacts, possibly from diverse cultures;
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with competing deadlines; 
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and professional maturity to handle sensitive and confidential data and matters with discretion is a must;
  • Computer literacy required to include a proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), Internet applications including online database applications;
  • Must be self-starter and possess the ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Should have experience of reviewing proposal budgets

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Manage proposal development process and submission including management of calendar and packaging of proposal
  • Maintain and follow BD processes
  • Manage development of budget, work plan and other proposal collateral
  • Updating proposal budgets in UNANET.
  • Interacting with donors on proposal related queries during pre-approval stage.
  • Manage the donor driven “Due Diligence” process, wherever needed.
  • Manage knowledge exchange within Asia office and with Africa and D.C. office
  • Manage periodic review of BD activities at Asia office
  • Maintain efficient prospecting function, ensuring that all new calls for proposals from grant-making bodies and donors are reviewed for their fit with our strategy and expertise and share recommendations with the BD team
  • Manage the process of decision making regarding selection of opportunities for proposal development
  • Analysis and tracking of BD related data
  • Other job assigned by Director Operations and Regional Director
