Magic Bus implements School Completion and Livelihood Enablement (SCALE) programme among adolescent children from grade 6 to 10 studying in Government and Government aided schools. SCALE programme is a;

a. result-driven, collaborative, five year programme model that focuses on two outcomes: the completion of secondary education and the delay in age at marriage for girls

b. focus on implementing scalable and replicable model while saturating districts to have higher impact

Partnership with State Government and District Administration is integral to the SCALE programme as it facilitate a wider impact through the public education system. It focuses on capacity building of government school teachers to deliver life skill education to adolescents with a larger objective to integrate life skill education within school system. Magic Bus has already entered into a MoU with the State Government of Maharashtra and Government of Mizoram. At present the programme impact more than 100,000 adolescents by partnering with more than 1000 schools across two districts of Maharashtra and one district of Mizoram.

Magic Bus seeks the services of a social sector professional, who will be responsible for supporting and strengthening the SCALE programme and replicate the model within Maharashtra, Mizoram and other states. We’re looking for someone who has the ability to understand the programme requirements, build partnership with various stakeholders involved in the programme and support the programme to grow by liaising with other stakeholders.

Specific tasks and responsibilities

· Provide programmatic guidance to SCALE programme across all operational locations to ensure programme outcome

· To work towards replicating and scaling the programme in other geographies in partnership with operation team

· Build overall strategy and development of programs, and procedures for replication and scaling up.

· Monitor the physical and financial progress against the committed outcome and agreement with donors

· Liaise with donors, Government departments and other stakeholders, technical experts for programme development

· Support resource mobilization, manage request for proposals processes for applying winning proposals for strengthening the programme

· Facilitate documentation processes for knowledge building and wider dissemination.

· Develop and maintain a project management system to provide regular feedback and to ensure timely completion of project deliverables.

· Prepare and submit all grant requirements like physical and financial progress reports, fund release, due diligence, audit reports and project updates etc.

Desired Competencies:

  • Excellent understanding of the social development sector, reflected through work undertaken in the sector on diverse issues and at varying levels
  • Programme implementation and management skills, preferably at the grassroots.
  • Must have a proven track records of institutional donor management and grant management.
  • Develop and write quality narrative reports based on quantitative and qualitative results
  • Preparation of budget and analysis of financial data
  • Demonstrates handling of challenging partnerships through past work
  • Proven ability to manage complex internal and external relationships 

Qualification & Work experience

  • Post Graduate in Social work/ Rural Management/ other social sciences relevant to the development sector
  • 10 to 12 years of experience in the social development sector
  • Experience reflects engagement with diverse sectoral issues, especially on education, adolescent empowerment and rural development 

Team coordination:

  • Director, Impact and the Impact team – To find ways to represent and communicate results/ outcomes as well as support and contribute to the effective creation of a monitoring and evaluation framework for the programme.
  • Programme Operation team – To coordinate with operations team for effective implementation, understand gaps, and facilitate supports for sustainance of projects.
  • Finance Team – To coordinate for Utilization certificate, donor reporting, due diligence, audit etc
    Communications Team – To develop effective channel for internal as well as external communications, milestones achieved, success stories etc.
  • Other support functions – to ensure adequate manpower, fund allocation & accuracy, technology enablement are in place. 

Reporting: To Director – Institutional Partnership

Mobility requirements:

The role would be based in Magic Bus Head office located in Airoli, Thane or Noida and would be required to travel to project locations or other field locations in line with the requirements of the grant, stakeholders, project management team etc. from time to time.
