What will your day to day look like?
Selected candidates will be responsible for:
- Carrying out ethnographic and other qualitative research exercises in the field
- Guiding team members on existing environmental and cultural contexts
- Sending reports and regular updates on specific thematic areas from the field
- Training other researchers on research methods, where needed
- Developing an analytical framework to help streamline learning’s from the field
- Assisting in design ethnographies, where needed
- Taking part in/organizing learning and insight workshops along with project leadership, when and where needed
Basic Qualifications:
- M.A. in Sociology/Anthropology or other social sciences
- Experience conducting ethnographies across different sites
- Experience in/understanding of cultural contexts in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other parts of northern India
- Strong Hindi/Urdu language skills
- Ability to move to field site (in UP Or Bihar) at short notice
Good to haves (skills / experiences):
- Interest and familiarity with public health and nutrition in the global south
- Ability to write for different audiences (academic, donor, media, advocacy) – candidates must share examples of writing for different audiences
- Understanding/language proficiency in Bihari and UP dialects will be given preference
- Experience and ability to work using other qualitative/quantitative/mixed methods
- Experience and ability to work using analytical softwares
- Familiarity with design research
- Familiarity with project management softwares
- Since the main project for which this hiring call has been issued aims to study masculinity in northern India, qualified male applicants will be given preference.
