The Global Communication & Marketing Manager will be responsible for shaping and coordinating internal and external communications and content strategy for our growing organization; developing and stewarding a consistent overarching narrative, driving content creation and distribution, building external relationships with our stakeholders, coordinating digital agencies and other service providers.

The Global Communication and Marketing Manager will work closely with the CEO and the Amani Leadership Team, coordinate with a junior global manager, and liaise with the local Communication Managers from our country offices in Kenya, India, and Brazil to ensure timely delivery of key messages and campaigns, consistency and effectiveness in positioning Amani Institute, and to promote our programs and initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

External Communication

– Develop and run global communications campaigns to recruit participants to our global programs several times per year.
– Contribute to the implementation of the global communications strategy that brings a distinctive brand presence to Amani Institute and enables us to achieve our mission, across channels.
– Develop and implement the Digital Communication Strategy, to ensure both the organic and paid growth of our presence through website, social media, newsletters and other platforms, constantly optimizing the Return of Investment (time and money).
– Ensure multimedia content is produced and distributed according to strategy, sourcing information from both our global and local activities, coordinating the development of original reports, toolkits, articles, visuals, videos, podcasts internally or with outsourced partners and contributing with original content creation.
– Manage the website and keep it updated.
– Ideate, coordinate and manage in-person and virtual events.
– Liaise with partners and service providers to run paid campaigns, implement partnerships and explore further opportunities to increase web traffic, social media interactions and overall applications to our B2B and B2C programs.

Network/Partnership Building and Enhancement:

– Develop and manage partnerships across a broad range of sectors, industries, and cultures with current and future stakeholders, such as our Fellows, clients (NGOs, foundations, and universities), employer partners, and other network partners
– Support donor and partner-focused communications.
– Build and manage trusted relationships with relevant reporters and media outlets.
– Represent the organization in national and international forums and events.

Internal Communication & Management

– Define and manage a budget and, over time, staff.
– Manage interns, consultants, and vendors on projects.
– Support the Community Director in efforts to keep strategic communities engaged in our work
– Manage and update the CRM database.
– Monitor and report on key Communication and Marketing KPIs in collaboration with the Global M&E Manager.
– Work with organizational leadership on internal communications. Enable internal communication across platforms, lead processes to ensure that institutional guidelines are met at a global level, information is shared on institutional platforms, branding and messages are aligned and knowledge sharing is occurring across the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

Personal Requirements:

– Demonstrated passion for making social impact, at both local and global levels.
– Evidence of being a doer – strong work ethic and self-accountability, with attention to details and understanding of the big picture.
– Strong interpersonal communication skills, with a high degree of empathy and cross-cultural sensitivity.
– Flexibility to work remotely across time zones, and with the ability to manage multiple projects at once, in collaboration with different colleagues and partners.
– Eager to learn more and grow in the role

Technical Requirements:

– Native English speaker with excellent written and oral communication skills.
– Undergraduate or Master’s level training in communications, marketing, PR, and/or related fields.
– 3+ years in communications campaign planning and execution, with excellent analytical skills, used to driving activities – and making decisions – based on metrics and analysis.
– Strong prior experience using digital marketing tools for growth hacking with perfect knowledge of Facebook Business Suite, Google Adwords, Google Studio, Google Analytics, Linkedin Marketing Solutions, database marketing tools.
International work experience

Additionally, we will look favorably upon candidates who can demonstrate the following:

– Familiarity with the social impact sector.
– Knowledge of an additional language among French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic.
– Previous experience in writing funding and business proposals.
– Previous experience using Salesforce, WordPress, Canva, Mailerlite.
– Previous experience in video making or podcast production.
– Excellent public speaking skills and experience in delivering talks to a large audience.

Location: Global, remote, with potential travels to our offices in Kenya, India and Brazil or within Europe and the USA.

Duration: This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 2 years with the initial contract (after an initial 6-month probation period), and great room for professional growth and development.
