Started in 2001, the Azim Premji Foundation is powered by an endowment currently valued at approximately USD 35 billion (Rs 262,000 crores). It comprises of three Operating Units – the Field Institutes, the University, and the Philanthropy. The Field Institutes and University work in Education – towards quality and equity of education in India, including in research, policy, and continuing education. The Philanthropy provides financial support through multi-year grants to not-for-profit organizations outside of Education, that serve the most vulnerable in our society. This integrated approach is towards the Foundation’s vision of ‘contributing to a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society’, bringing our constitutional values to life.

The Foundation has an ambitious plan to build its Publications portfolio as part of a systematic effort to communicate with all stakeholders (field practitioners, philanthropy partners, students, candidates, government functionaries, researchers…). We wish to advocate for the right public policy interventions, by properly placing our research, our publications & expertise. We wish to publish books of long-lasting importance by renowned experts in areas of education & development in multiple Indian languages. These publications will be superior in scholarship and production quality (and in an increasingly digital world) and will be for general readers as well as for scholarly reading (including translations).
