What we do:

NavGurukul’s flagship, Residential program works with learners from underserved communities to help them become programmers and gives them a guaranteed job once they finish the program. Currently, we are training 1000+ students in our fully funded seven residential centers across various states in India. Six of our seven campuses have only girl students. The focus on gender is a conscious choice, as inclusion is one of the core principles guiding our choices and focus areas. 

The residential program is open for students who have finished just 10th grade and are 17 years of age. We are expanding our offering to digital careers other than programming, such as design and management. 

So far, we have placed around 500+ students with software jobs in the tech industry with various IT giants and product startups. Our campuses are self-governed spaces that the students manage through elected student bodies. The learning on NavGurukul campuses is guided by self-paced pedagogy with a strong focus on peer learning.

Besides the Residential program, we have two more programs: Meraki and Code India Fellowship. Through Meraki, we work with students (and teachers) from government schools and ITIs through an online offering to help students learn basic English, touch typing, and programming. Code India Fellowship works with young freshers from India’s top colleges to transform learning outcomes in government high schools and ITIs and ensure the employability of students graduating from these programs. 

About the role:

As the Learning Manager, you will ensure students achieve their learning outcomes. As mentioned above, NavGurukul campuses are not run on traditional classroom-led pedagogy. Your role will involve the following: 

• Understanding and contributing to our campuses’ curriculum design and pedagogy (andragogy). 
• Collaborating with the subject matter experts from the School of Programming, Design, and Management Leads to convert the curriculum into trackable learning outcomes. For learning to happen, domain expertise and pedagogy have to come together, and your role would be to represent the voice of pedagogy in the team.
• Monitoring learning processes in the classrooms. Creating scalable processes and structures for the dissemination of learning. Identifying the right tools and processes needed to support every student on campus.
• Updating all necessary data regularly for assessing student progress.
• Managing different stakeholders involved in the project and sharing regular updates. Hosting external partners during campus visits. 
• Managing the team on campus and facilitating intra-team coordination. Ensuring growth and capacity building of the Academic Team on campus. 
• Escalating any other requirements or challenges that interfere with the learning on campus.
• Taking ownership of everything else that is necessary to accelerate students’ learning outcomes. 

Apply if you have: 

• Master’s Degree in Education or in any relevant field with teaching experience; or a Fellowship
• Experience in the education sector – like TFI.
• At least 3-6 years of relevant experience in learning, team management, and program management roles.
• Experience delivering learning outcomes in classrooms, ideally for young adults.
• Understanding of Andragogy (adult Pedagogy) and experience monitoring learning processes, especially self-guided and peer-based learning
• Ability to question all assumptions about how learning happens and work with first principles to set up processes from scratch
• Leadership, time management, team management, facilitation, and organizational skills
• Alignment with NavGurukul’s vision and values. Willingness to work in a dynamic environment with varied student demographic
• Deep empathy toward learners. Sensitisation towards student learning experiences, mental health, well-being and positive experiences
• Ability to shift focus from teaching to learning. Curiosity and motivation to expand your own knowledge and competence.
• Problem-solving, mediation, crisis intervention, and negotiation skills
• The capability to interact effectively and build good relationships with relevant stakeholders 

Location:

This is a residential role. We have openings for our Amravati, Jashpur, Udaipur, Pune, and Bangalore campuses.  

Compensation & Culture:

NavGurukul salaries are at par with most not-for-profits in the country. For this role, the salary bracket is 4.5 – 6 lakhs per annum. Additionally, since this is a campus role, all your food and accommodation will be taken care of by NavGurukul. Accounting for the lodging and boarding costs, the CTC for this role would be 5.5 to 7.25 LPA.

We are also open to hiring for more senior roles in the same function, so we will be happy to explore if you bring more experience and maturity to the function and are committed to NavGurukul’s vision.
