As the Manager, Development & Donor Relations you will be responsible for building the funding base to support Akanksha’s ambitious program goals.
Your key responsibilities will also include maintaining relationships with key donors and their organizations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders such as the Finance team, School – Program teams, Impact team as well as Communications team to support fundraising for the organization. This role requires an eye for detail and interpersonal skills as well as excellent relationship management skills
Reports to: Director, Development and Communications
Overview of the Team: Development is the critical backbone of Akanksha, with the organization being dependent on donations for its operations. The team manages resource mobilization and development involving donor relations, donor appreciation and reaches out to potential investors interested in being associated with Akanksha.
What your role will entail
● Driving the development of some of the work streams listed above, including supporting the team with prospect research and portfolio management ,managing operations and compliance
● Tapping into various networks to increase the base of new donors
● Stewardship of existing donors based on their giving capacity, in order to ensure repeat donations and upgrades
● Ensuring that the team keeps all proposals and documents up-to-date on the team site. Supporting all impact studies and audits and being the key resource for handling these from the Donor Relations team.
● Working with the Communications team to ensure that all marketing collaterals are up-to-date and effective
● Working with other teams in the organization to ensure that the development team is abreast of the latest updates that could be relevant to development conversations
What you need for this Position
Experience:
● 5-7 years of relevant work experience in client facing roles
● Prior experience with fundraising is preferred however not mandatory.
● Sectoral exposure to corporates/ foundations and experience of working with HNIs
Skills:
● Ability to source new leads through research, take the initiative and ownership to pursue them
● Strong project management skills and ability to pay attention to detail and working in making Proposals , understanding numbers as well as working on making Logical framework for donors. ( should be comfortable with advanced Excel and numbers )
● Commitment to excellence and accuracy, with an ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
● Strong time management skills, a keen sense of urgency and an ability to accommodate multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
● Team management skills and ability to co-ordinate with different functional teams
● Strong communication skills, both verbal and written ( Should be able to have good written skills to be able to work on reports and proposals )
● Proficiency in the use of the MS office toolkit
Education:
● Post graduate in Marketing/Advertising/related fields
● Post graduate in Business Administration
● BBA / BMS , Degree / Specialised courses in Social sector
