About SEWA Bharat:
Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) is a movement to empower women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat is part of the national SEWA movement. Established in 1984, it is a national federation of SEWA organizations of women working in the informal economy. SEWA Bharat emerged out of the need to address the SEWA movement’s challenges with geographical expansion and coordination. SEWA Bharat comprises a family of SEWA organizations to further informal women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, health and social security.
About SEWA Atithi:
SEWA Atithi is a grassroots women-run hospitality and eco-tourism pilot (potentially developing into a multi-state enterprise). Emerging from the need of our women for an alternative source of income, we have been developing 8 homestays in Almora and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand. Offering homestays to host guests, conducting trekking and related experiential activities in the locations has been our primary attraction. Alongside promoting experiential, responsible, and social-impact tourism that promotes the local culture and heritage is another feature of this collective. Due to the pandemic, the tourism industry took a hit in the last two years which has directly affected the collective.
Job Description:
Tasks & Deliverables
1. Marketing & Sales:
a. Developing an understanding of and staying current with the competitive landscape in tourism and identify business opportunities to increase sales by identifying consumer requirements, defining market and competition, marketing and forecasting projected business.
b. Strategize and implement a digital-driven marketing & sales plan for the collective located in fairly remote villages.
c. Managing the complete sales cycle from business development and customer acquisition to receipt of payments.
d. Responsible for achievement of sales targets through effective strategy, implementation and monitoring mechanisms.
Key Performance Indicator: Every homestay host should earn a regular income by hosting for at least 5 nights per month.
2. Customer Strategy:
a. Identify opportunities to grow the customer base and build positive relationships with new clients.
b. Extract inputs for developing and improving service quality and experience based on customer feedback.
c. Get involved in the entire customer lifecycle, find out the areas which impact the customer the most at every touchpoint– create and execute new solutions to improve customer experience.
3. Engagement with the Community:
a. Drive quarterly marketing & sales planning for the collective along with the women.
b. Be a trusted advisor to the collective’s women and work collaboratively with them to help build their knowledge and capacity.
c. Build capacity for women to operate digital platforms used for the purpose of managing and marketing the homestays.
Location:
Based in Almora, Uttarakhand with travel to other homestay locations.
